Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Huang.
Hi Mary, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Today, I have the privilege of public speaking, teaching families and entrepreneurs simple steps to prepare, protect and pass on generational wealth, but it wasn’t always that way.
Many years ago, my two little daughters and I left behind a million-dollar life I helped co-create. Our lives changed in the blink of an eye. I shut down my brick-and-mortar, moved to a town where we didn’t know a soul and started over with no money. As I clawed my way out of financial ignorance with food stamps and credit card debt I prayed daily through my tears that I would come up above this oppressive pain. There was never a time where I wanted to learn how to win the money game like I did in that season of life. My little girls were counting on me. Every move I made modeled to their young minds what was possible in life. Would I stay down or would I rise up? That was the question I had to answer every day because I took my influence seriously.
Soon, with an asking heart and eager mind, the right mentors, resources and doors opened up. Someone sat down and show me what the building blocks of a financial foundation were and how to create an unshakable structure that multiplied, held and passed on wealth to future generations.
“It’s this easy!?” I proclaimed. “Why didn’t I learn this in school!?” I said in massive disbelief.
The simplicity of it was relieving, but learning the hard way was frustrating. Every human deserves to know this life skill to thrive financially. Our parents, friends and colleagues don’t talk about money because they weren’t taught or it’s considered taboo. Studies show that people would rather sit in two hours of traffic or get on stage and speak to a crowd than talk about money at the family dinner table. We must break the perpetuating inheritance of poverty consciousness. That’s why I’m on a mission to teach families and entrepreneurs how to create and pass on generational wealth. It is time we shatter the belief that money is taboo so we can reclaim our birthright to wealth. The more money we have, the greater the impact we can make in this world.
After I discovered how easy it was to put our financial plan in action, I let out a huge sigh of relief and slept well that night knowing we were safe. It wasn’t just leaving a legacy of abundance, it was also passing on knowledge, a new blueprint of freedom, liberation and possibilities for my lineage as a legacy. The best part is these critical steps to financial wealth are available to anyone who wants it.
Life will throw us tough situations that hurt. Will you let it hold you down? Or will you use it as fuel to soar even higher? The approach we take out of the challenge separates us between victims and victors. Those dark moments of financial distress made me hungry to seek education and succeed. Now, it’s your turn to create an unshakable financial foundation and pass on inter-generational wealth, too.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Haha. Life as a human comes with peaks of elation and valleys of darkness. Thankfully, there are plateaus of peace and manageable spurts of growing pains in between. The good news is when we go back to collect the golden nuggets from past pits of despair, we end up with a treasure trove of illumination. These are the gifts and talents we must weave into our mission, purpose, destiny and legacy.
Most people dream of having wealth. When I was 14 years old, my brother and I lived a couple of streets from the Forbes family estate. Many of the children we grew up with were put on prescription drugs to sedate their personalities. For us, we were also treated like dead weight, cast aside so my parents could continue globe-trotting after money, fame and power. No one knew we were abandoned in a mansion, in America, without guardians. From that point forward, we were left to figure out life on our own. We had wealth, money and access, yet none of it meant anything because I was spiritually bankrupt on the inside. All I wanted were the simple needs of love, belonging and meaning. The pain of being physically alive but emotionally dead led me to date drug dealers and numb myself through drugs from 14 to 24 years old. I was ill-equipped and naive. It felt like I was a sheltered girl dumped into the middle of a shark-infested ocean without any hope in sight. By grace and mercy, today I remain alive, taking a stand for empowerment, hope and love especially in the areas of purpose, money and legacy.
All the abuse, assault and atrocities led me to attempt suicide at 19 years old. Unsure why I was allowed to wake up the next morning I’ve had decades to reflect, heal and grow the darkness into points of power to elevate myself and others. Our epiphanies are meant to be shared so others can learn from our mistakes, challenges and dark nights of the soul. I’ve learned that nothing is wasted. Everything has a purpose in the end.
In this case, being raised in ultra wealth, abandoned in another country, only to become a single mother on food stamps and having risen up to be on mission as a Wealth and Legacy Architect serving others seems like irony, parody and mockery twisted into one astonishing tale. God will heal the most broken ones sometimes to help others with our newfound wisdom. One of the greatest lessons I learned through experience is this: Wealth Without a Divine Purpose is Lethal. I also discovered that Wealth Follows Those Who First Pursue Their Highest Calling.
