Hidden Gems: Meet Alexus Mozell of Nurturing Amir Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexus Mozell.

Alexus, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The idea of starting a children’s brand came to mind when I became a mom in 2020. I have always had a passion for kids but never imagined that I would have started my own business geared toward just that. I moved to Los Angeles in 2013 with hopes of working in the Entertainment industry. I had the pleasure of doing that up until I got pregnant. Although I am currently in school to get my Entertainment Business degree I plan to eventually start my own production company producing mindful content for children. Nurturing Amir came second nature to me. I wanted to create products that were geared toward teaching children mindfulness and confidence. My first product was “Affirmations For Littles” and my brand has only expanded from that. I have also just released my first children’s book “I know I can” a book of empowering “I Can” affirmations for young black boys.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
What business hasn’t hit roadblocks here and there? We just hit our one-year anniversary on October 13 and there were times when I wanted to throw in the towel Running a business is not easy. Although the process is rewarding it definitely has its ups and downs. There were times when I was getting a sale or sales for a month and I would think that my products weren’t good enough or maybe this road wasn’t meant for me. But, the more I am on this journey or owning my own business, the more I am learning that every business during the first five years goes through things like this. I took that time and tried to master and learn more about marketing, figure out my target audience, and what I wanted my brand to be in the next five years. On days there aren’t sales coming in there is always something I can be doing to elevate my brand.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Nurturing Amir Co.?
Nurturing Amir Co is a mindful nurturing brand created by a mom whose main goal was to create a community that promoted mindfulness for littles. In addition, I wanted to create a community for all The MINDful Mamas. The beautiful thing about Nurturing Amir is as I nurture “Amir” I will nurture this brand with products that are geared toward helping him learn & grow so that I can help your littles learn as well. Stay tuned because this is just the beginning and we have so many great things in store. I am most proud of myself for having a vision and following through with it.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Some of the characteristics I feel are important to my success is never giving up. That has been my staple motto when it has come to my business. Even on days, I feel like I am not getting anywhere or my business has slow days, I have to keep going. I think when we have a vision for a business, it is sent to us for a reason and when we act on it, we must keep going despite the trials and tribulations. I also think we must always see the bright side of things. It is always something good that can come out of the mistakes we make.
