Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Mejia.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started off as a confused college student who thought they wanted to pursue the sciences but through life experiences, I fell in love with Filmmaking and content creation. I graduated Brooklyn College with a BA in Film production and worked as a freelance video producer for a two years. Within those years I was able to work with a variety of content creators and companies such as Bluestone Lane, WhatisNewYork, and TimeOut. I was then invited to a content creation house called the Dreamers House and became their primary videographer. We got accepted in Snapchat’s 523 Content Creators Program and got our own Snapchat show on the discover page. Since then I got as an Associate Video Editor/Video Producer for Talent Recap, a YouTube channel with over 10 million subscribers that creates recap videos of all things America’s Got Talent, Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, etc.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely has not been a smooth road. There were many roadblocks that I had to overcome (both physical and emotional). The hardest thing was taking the leap to do something new and stick with it knowing nothing about it but what made it so worth it was the feeling of being accomplished and loving what I’m doing.

Currently, I am an Associate Video Editor/ Video Producer at Talent Recap. As soon as I get to work, I have video assignments to edit and I absolutely love it. Every day feels like something new at the office. From the work environment to the culture, it is one of the most professional and fun places I’ve ever been at. I think the fact that I have fun at work and work with such a strong team makes the entire experience all the more worthwhile.
