Meet Hernst Bellevue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hernst Bellevue.

Hi Hernst, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was born Brooklyn, New York, and moved out to Uniondale, Long Island when I was about six or seven years old. I got into music pretty early, specifically with the saxophone at eight years old, and played that for eight years. From there I transitioned into the Voice and becoming a vocalist. I went to 5 Towns College for jazz a commercial music specializing in vocals and began interning with Songwriter/Producer Salaam Remi (Fugees, Nas, Amy Winehouse). It was those early years in watching him interact with the artists that I had realized I didn’t want to be an artist as much. He was actually the one that noticed my ability as a record producer first. I’ve been spent the next 15 years learning and collaborating with him with numerous projects. In 2012, he transitioned into the executive space at Sony, and I continued my career as a record producer and ended up moving to LA full-time in 2016.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No road is a smooth road lol. And if it is or appears smooth, you need to check what you’re driving ha ha. On that journey, there are so many things that you’ll encounter along the way, especially when you decide that you ware creating your own reality. Nobody will see what you see, especially if it’s never been done before, and with that comes a lot of doubt. Doubt from the outside sources, which sometimes awakens doubt from the inside, within you. Mostly people telling you that what you’re trying to do can’t be done, and maybe you should settle for something more secure and safe. I love the overall concept of being secure and safe lol, but not at the expense of living an exciting and full life. Other challenges include sometimes others not seeing the value in your work. Or at least until the value has been provided. And even then, sometimes it’s minimized.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a record producer and songwriter, I specialize in sitting with other songwriters and artists, then creating music often from scratch and organizing it in a way it can be sent to record labels and other distribution sources for public consumption. What I’m most proud of about it is being able to connect with others through music that weren’t even in the room when the music was being created. Often times I have people who come to me and tell me that what I’ve contributed to has moved them and touched them in all types of positive ways. That always feels amazing. I feel that we are our own individual unique beings and although all inter-connected, we each have the ability to contribute our own individual expression in our own unique way. If I had to pinpoint anything that I felt set me apart, I believe that I have a unique way of being able to connect with people when we are in the process of creating that allows them to reach within themselves and feel safe with being honest about their expressions.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I didn’t used to think that I was a big risk-taker. But as I’ve looked back and reflected on my life I’ve realized that I’ve been a pretty damn big risk-taker lol. I moved to Miami from New York to pursue music further, and again from Miami to LA. Getting up and leaving where are you set routes has never been an easy task, especially when you’ve built a life. I take risks every time I send music to artists and or labels. When you create music, you are revealing a vulnerable side of yourself, and when you share it with the world, I think that’s an extremely big risk because it’s like walking with your heart in your hand and showing it to people and asking them if they like it lol.
