Rising Stars: Meet Jordan Olguin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Olguin.

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
During the 2020 lockdown, my partner introduced yoga to me. Since then, I have cultivated a regular personal practice and study of the ancient yogic texts. As a yoga asana instructor, I get the honor of helping students deepen their physical practice as well as share the deeper, philosophical aspects of yoga as a whole. As my personal practice evolves, so too do I auspiciously meet new teachers and guides who help me on my path.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There is a tradition that says that as a yogi, you’re sticking your head above the clouds, above the masses of people just going with the flow. As yogis you can’t get away with anything because the gods and demons notice. You do one little thing wrong, and you get caught. You just can’t afford to take chances. The physical, mental, emotional, financial (you name it!) challenges that have arisen since embarking on this yogic journey have been some of the toughest in my life. However, as I sit here now, I can, without a doubt, say that I am stronger than I ever could have imagined. And as much as I’d like to complain, and believe me I can complain, it’s all been worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I act, sing, dance, produce music, write, and teach yoga. I like to weave all of these things together in all of my projects. After every yoga class, I sing to my students in savasana. I write songs that go deeper than the popular tropes of today, hoping to invoke a deeper curiosity inside the listener. I work to bring a deep level of truth and authenticity to every role I play. I definitely march to the beat of my own drum and unapologetically challenge the status quo. My goal is to impact every person I come in contact with, whether in person or through music or video, inspiring an awakening of a new way of being.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was performing ‘NSYNC’s “Pop” for my kindergarten talent show. I loved the rush of a screaming crowd. It was before my parents divorced and is one of the few memories I have of my childhood.
