Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Anderson and Ally Carroll.
Hi Kelsey and Ally, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Underwear is a small garment that can make a big difference. And as two women who love to move our bodies, we know exactly what it feels like to wear the wrong pair all day – from improper fits to chafing elastic, to fabrics that can contribute to yeast infections. Whether we were working out, traveling or running errands, we were struggling to find underwear that could keep up with our every move.
Turns out, we weren’t alone. After doing some market research, we learned there was one underwear category in particular that elicited the most complaints and the most requests amongst women. We all seemed to be looking for underwear that could hold up during a workout. Because while we all had the best sportswear to support our breasts, legs, and even feet, our most sensitive areas — our vulva, vagina and anus — were left with either our oldest, torn thong or stretched lingerie. From rolling to ripping to staying sweaty long after our other gear had dried, the underwear was wildly uncomfortable and simultaneously leaving us at risk for infection.
So, we set out to design our dream pair of underwear, specifically made for movement. Our SilverSport thong has all the performance qualities of your favorite premium sportswear – sweat-wicking, quick dry and cooling, along with an added health benefit of embedded silver fibers that naturally inhibit bacteria and odor. Plus, it’s a seamless design that actually stays in place and is so comfortable you forget it’s there.

Through the use of unique design and smart fiber technology, we’ve been able to reimagine what underwear can do for women.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Our internal saying is ‘every delay is for a reason.’ It’s our much-needed reminder that everything works out exactly as it should, despite how nerve-wracking it may feel in the thick of it. Some of our bumps in the road have included things like a supplier permanently closing due to Covid, our fabric mill doubling our minimums and a video that went “viral” on the wrong side of TikTok.
Of course, the past couple of years in general have been tumultuous for almost everyone. We feel so lucky to be in this together – having a co-founder to navigate the obstacles but also celebrate the wins has been so important. We’ve known each other since preschool and both attended USC, so we have a solid foundation of friendship and trust that makes us confident we can overcome any challenge ahead.

At Netherlin, our larger mission is to create a healthy and thriving environment for all vulvas and their owners. This means going beyond underwear to support, educate and advocate for vulva-owners health and rights. With the recent overturning of Roe v. We embedded our SilverSport fabric with Ionic+™ silver technology to minimize those risks (like skin irritation, UTI’s, and yeast infections) and keep you feeling fresh. Also, as we exercise, thongs can ultimately shift around and end up moving bacteria. Adding silver to underwear can be the assist some of us need against these unwanted microbes. Our fabric is permanently embedded with silver so that the antimicrobial benefits last the lifetime of the garment. This is unlike other brands that use a topical chemical finish that can wash off in ~10 washes.
Though we launched with our movement category, that is just the start. Women on average are wearing 3 pairs of underwear a day – a pair for sleep, a pair for work and a pair for movement.
