Exploring Life & Business with Alison Okerman of Park Barrett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Okerman.

Hi Alison, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2019, Park Barrett began without me even knowing it. After creating a custom sweatshirt for myself and a few friends, I was starting to get requests to create more. I had never been one to go for something like this, but for some reason, I thought “why not!” and went with it. I started an Instagram page and started posting items I was making. With many orders coming in via social media, the website was then born. Word of mouth and social media quickly created a buzz. With over 5000 sweatshirts sewn, multiple wholesale accounts across the country, and celebrities in their own custom goods, I never thought I’d be here today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish I could say there have been zero struggles! From a pandemic in 202o that hit right when we were getting going to supply chain issues and production issues, there have been many struggles. As long as you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, these struggles won’t derail your path. Running a business is a constant learning experience, and hopefully, we are learning from all of the struggles, only to be better in the end.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Park Barrett is a custom clothing line specializing in loungewear. We allow customers to add a personal touch to their garments with embroidery on the neckline or sleeve. Customers add anything from their names, their kid’s names, their favorite team to simple hearts or stars. We love seeing what comes through. I have seen some very clever and funny requests! What makes me most proud is our return customers. I love hearing how someone loved their item so they now want to order for their friends. Or how they need to update with a new color we just came out with. Seeing people come back for more is amazing. One fun thing we have started doing is group orders for events and fundraisers. It makes an amazing bridesmaid gift, party favor, or a school fundraiser. We love seeing those group photos!

What’s next?
The future looks bright! Right now new product is in the works. We are constantly working to add new items, new colors, and new designs. We can’t wait to show you all!
