Exploring Life & Business with Marsha and Ersin Kaya of Bites by M.E

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marsha and Ersin Kaya.

Hi Marsha and Ersin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are a husband and wife team. Ersin with a passion for cooking and me for baking. We started baking for friends and family at the beginning of The pandemic 2020. My daughter asked me to bake an Olive Oil Cake for a gathering and we quickly went from baking for friends and family to now finding ourselves baking countless cakes a week, participating in pop-ups, and now venturing into brand collabs.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The thought of baking and running a business with my husband, I knew there was going to be challenges. We bumped heads quite a bit and he said he “quit” more often than not. We learned to give ample space to one another and respect one another’s ideas. I do my part and then he comes in and does his part. I try not to be in the kitchen at the same time, it works out much better this way.

We’ve been impressed with Bites by M.E, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are husband and wife Duo. Ersin has a passion for cooking and me for baking. We initially started with our popular olive oil cake and Banana pudding. Before you knew it Ersin was baking alongside and became the cake decorator and was a self-taught Virgo with a keen eye for detail. It was only natural he became the decorator. Ersin never baked before. My experience was baking most of my kid’s bday cakes and other sweets. We both have a passion in what we do and stride for perfection. Everything is homemade, handcrafted and made from scratch. We will not cut corners. When we hand you over a cake it’s going to be as perfect as possible and freshly made. We do not freeze our cakes.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have to say we are very lucky to have had my daughter Adriana Najera influence and support to push us. I am one lucky lady to have my husband by my side sharing this amazing experience and growth together.
