Today we’d like to introduce you to Yin Yin Huang.
Hi Yin Yin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my music journey at the age of eight in Taiwan by taking piano lessons from a renowned music teacher Lily Chou. After graduation from high school and completing my entrance examination I entered Chinese Culture University
After graduating from Chinese Culture University in music education and piano performance, I taught for two years at Tainan Theological University. I migrated to USA in 1979 and resided in Alhambra, CA. I enrolled in Cal State University of Los Angeles majoring in piano performance. After completing my education and receiving my master’s degree, I began to teach at California State University of Los Angeles in 2004 and continued teaching private piano lessons as well as performing in concerts and still continuing. I also established my own piano studio in Alhambra since 1982 through the present. Founder and artistic director of Acevedo music & art education foundation Inc, since 2005. As a working mom at home and raised two wonderful boys.
I have been empowering my music students since 1982 to achieve their goals and objectives by setting attainable goals on the following ways: have self-confidence, believe in themselves, have high moral standards, serve humanity and their community. Also, to overcome fear through education, dedication, perseverance, commitment, practice and believing in God to succeed in life. I am pleased that I have had a role in the lives of many of my students who have gone to achieve high levels of success in their journey and many of them have attended such prestigious Universities as: Juilliard, Harvard University, Stanford, Cambridge and many others.
I was fortunate to receive the prestigious Woman of the Year award in City of Alhambra from Honorable Congressman Adam Schiff in 2009 as well as Model of Unity award from the City of Pasadena 2010.
Students are our biggest assist. There is no greater return on an investment than investing in our students and the future of this country.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Just like most people I have had my ups and downs during the course of my life. Coming to this country at a young age and not speaking English sufficiently was troublesome. Working full-time and raising two children was difficult. However, by trusting in God and being raised in a loving family, it gave me the strength to face the challenges and overcome them. Also, when you have family and friends that support you in times of need has been a blessing,
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In addition to my piano teaching, I have been fortunate to succeed as a concert pianist since 1982. During that period of time, I have performed in many countries both as soloist and with orchestras in: USA, Vienna, Positano-Italy, Taiwan, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Beijing, China. I also taught International Chamber music Festivals in; Positano-Italy, Vienna and founded Two Cranes International Music Festival in 2011 and held master class and performed at Beijing, China. Pasadena, USA in 2017 collaborated with a group of international outstanding musicians.
I have had the pleasure of meeting and collaborating with many top music Artists since 1982 which has affected my life and career in a positive and affirming manner. I also formed a trio of cellist – Ling Yan, violinist – Pei Chun Tsai ad myself pianist in 2005 called Harmonium Trio and still we have the pleasure of performing together in concerts.
I began to compose since 2021, which required: much of my times, dedications, commitments and sacrifices. However, I have enjoyed every minute of it, although at times it has been very demanding and uncertainty. I won third place in Composers Today in State Contest through Music Teachers Association of California. I just performed at Music Teachers Association of California, Convention for Composers today winner recital on July 4th, 2022 at Hyatte Regency, Garden Grove, Orange County. In my spare time I love gardening and is good physical activities, can help stimulate my sense of touch, smell and sight.
Music, health, happiness, longevity, family, serving humanity-my church FTPC, kindness to fellow human begins and serving God.
