Rising Stars: Meet Chase Bergey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Bergey.

Hi Chase, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I own and operate a creative agency called ByChase. I’m 23 years old and have been a full-time freelance creative since 2018. I worked with and shot all types of people from senior portraits to NBA workouts but had always questioned my place in the industry. During the pandemic, I started shooting and editing youtube videos for friends and had the idea to start building teams around channels. Burnout is such a frequent side effect of content creation and can be easily avoided when the overall workload is divided. This realization was a beautiful thing because if done correctly, I could help make influencers and creator’s lives easier while simultaneously giving paid jobs and opportunities to freelance creatives. So I began reaching out to other creatives via social media to build my team. I quickly found there was a lot of interest and that this was worth pursuing. Fast forward a year, and now we have a strong client base of rapidly-growing channels. We are always looking to expand and add both creatives and creators!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been lots of obstacles along the way, mainly with self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and financial stress. For the longest time, I talked myself down and blamed luck for the opportunities I was getting when in reality, they came from hard work and perseverance. Adjusting that inner voice to not only acknowledge the work but to support it and motivate myself has truly been life-changing. As for the financial stress, I believe it is the biggest barrier for any creative. Juggling your passion and drive to create while simultaneously trying to fund your career and bills is so tough. This led me to take jobs in the creative industry that I didn’t want to do or weren’t inspiring, which after doing consistently, was very draining and drove me further from my passion. Balance is everything.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Photographer and Videographer that owns and operates a creative agency! I specialize in creating content for YouTube! I think I described it well in the last questions.

What were you like growing up?
My childhood was pretty rough. Growing up, I was constantly forced to adapt. My parents were off and on from age three up until 10 when they decided to finally divorce. Because of this, we moved around a lot, which bred me having a TON of interests. I was rarely inside and always exploring! I was into skating, surfing, diving, fishing, art, building, hiking, making money, and just creating in general. I was very introverted and kept to my circle for the most part, but it was hard to really get close to anyone knowing another move was imminent. I finally became more social once I started working and being forced to interact with strangers.
