Meet Audrey Rae, Kennedy Van Dyke, and Whitney Olson of RA_ Loft in Downtown Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Rae, Kennedy Van Dyke, and Whitney Olson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Audrey, Kennedy, and Whitney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The three of us first founded RA_ in 2014 after years of working together at Warren Tricomi.

We had just a small studio in Beverly Hills which we quickly grew out of. We expanded our salon to RA_ Hair House in late 2015, transforming a tucked away West Hollywood bungalow into a salon oasis. Now, just last month we opened our second location in Downtown LA. RA_ Loft is much more than a hair salon. It is a Wellness + Beauty Co-op. We have combined forces with some other incredible brands to make the ultimate “one stop shop” for all things wellness and beauty. We have yoga, juice, micro-blading, waxing, nails and hair all under one roof! The concept works perfectly for the busy downtown city life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We cannot express enough how blessed we have been through this journey. Of course, no road is perfectly smooth. However, the three of us together really complement each other in each of our strengths and weaknesses. The best part of three is always having a tie breaker in decision making! It has been an incredible growing process for all of us, personally, and in business. Growing always has its “growing pains” but we have been super fortunate in our ability to create these amazing businesses together.

Please tell us about RA_ Loft.
What we have strived so hard to create and what we are most proud of, is the feeling of our brand. We are a high end salon, with much more than just salon services to offer.

We want everyone who walks through our doors to feel welcome, comfortable and at home while at the same time receiving the best of the best in technique, talent and service. We also support local artists and use our walls as gallery space, switching out the pieces every few months. We then host an Art Party for each artist inviting all of our clients and our community to come enjoy the works and get to know the artist. That being said, we love hosting! So our doors are also open as an event space for anyone with an innovative idea or great cause. We just do our best to bring people together, give back and keep evolving in a positive direction.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Not a thing. All lessons are only learned from going through the process. Of course, we have learned so much along the way. But if we didn’t go through it the way we did, who knows what our outcome would be. We are grateful for all we have learned.
