Hidden Gems: Meet Tzvi Ratner-Stauber of Ratner Property

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tzvi Ratner-Stauber.

Hi Tzvi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My family and friends grew up going to the famous Montrose Bowling Alley (IN Glendale). We would have birthday parties there, hang out with friends, etc. We haven’t gone in many years. I read that it was for sale and was pretty much closed down. I was concerned that a developer was going to come in and turn it into retail or apartments. This was happening during covid so the place was pretty much shut down. I was told it really hasn’t been open in years to the public. My family and I are in real estate and we love the Montrose area. We saw this as a win win. Save the bowling alley and hopefully make it into a successful business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We obviously have no background in the bowling business so we are learning as we go. Trying to figure out what works. We want to renovate and upgrade the bowling alley. Keep that original old school feel but with better lighting, music, etc. We also plan to do a major renovation to the kitchen and have a full vegan restaurant. The hard part has been getting permits, everything is understandably really slow right now.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in real estate. We like to look at real estate in different ways. Not just about tenants and collecting rents. Rather to bring something unique to the community. If its apartments bring amenities that they dont currently have and will enjoy. If it’s office, we will cater towards the music industry so they can have their own mini studio. If it’s retail, a unique dining experience. Our specialty is industrial, we want it have a more shared collaborative space experience. Not one of these old big box cold feel

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My brothers Adom and Shaya Ratner-Stauber really get the most credit. I am just the pretty face (Wink) Our grandfather and later our father mentored us and taught us the business. They of course get the majority credit. They taught us the right way to do business. That your name and reputation is everything. To always do right by the community and the community comes first.
