Meet Vivienne Manuel of The Serenity Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivienne Manuel.

Hi Vivienne, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the spa and beauty industry for 16 years. It has always been a dream of mine to actually own and operate my own spa. After working for several facilities, I landed a job at a high-end spa. After being with this business for a few years, I got the courage to actually go for my dream of running my own business. Being a part of an establishment was great in itself, but I felt like I wanted more. So I did my research and found myself renting out my own space to create a safe and serene environment of my own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With little experience on my own, it was difficult at first. It was overwhelming to find a good balance and create a reputation as a solo therapist. Finding a good balance took some time and patience. I found myself running a business during the most difficult time, the pandemic. During this unsure time, I had to make tough choices about keeping my business open or starting over with working for someone else. It was scary because no one knew what was happening or when we were able to run at full capacity again. During the closure, I had decided to keep my business and reopen when it was safe to do so. During the closure, I had time to rebrand my business and focused on making sure my guests and myself were safe and protected when I was able to reopen.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Serenity Studio offers customized massage therapy, customized facials, and body treatments. I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that each service is customized exactly to what my guest would need. They can come in wanting a firm deep tissue to focus on tension areas or come in wanting to relax and take a break from their everyday life. I also offer wellness series that people can use to make self-care a part of their routine. I make self-care very easy for those who need and want it more than once a year or for a special occasion.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I had no real time frame or plan as when I opened my business. When I did, I found myself to be very lucky to have found my studio and opened when I did. I feel as ” Luck” had some role in my success, but also hard work and determination. I feel very lucky to be surrounded with like-minded people and also have the support that I have.
