Today we’d like to introduce you to Amie Leadingham.
Hi Amie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for helping singles started with my last breakup. I remember crying in my apartment and telling myself I never want my heart to break like this again. My ex-boyfriend at the time had severe issues with addictions from alcohol to gambling, so I often found myself trying to save him. When I realized that I could not save him and that I needed to save myself, I ended the relationship and hit rock bottom. It was hard to admit that I was the common denominator in my dysfunctional relationships which had been all of my relationships thus far. If I wanted my results to change, I would have to reach out for help.
I took a hiatus from dating to focus on personal development and my relationship skills. I went to workshops, seminars and read relationship books. What I discovered was that most singles (including myself) pick up habits from their upbringing and use the same skills in their own relationships, even if some of those behaviors were toxic. Many singles were not raised with healthy relationship skills because they had never experienced a healthy relationship in their home.
Furthermore, many singles struggle to verbalize or even conceptualize what relationship criteria are important to them and instead base their love choices on what society deems as successful. Sadly, I fell into that category too and “good on paper” wasn’t enough for a great partnership. There are some fundamental values that singles like me miss when it comes to finding lasting love, including conflict resolution skills and the tools to be vulnerable and connect with someone in a more profound way.
When I finally understood what it took to have a healthy relationship, I returned to dating. Within a few months, I met my wonderful husband. Our marriage is the kind that I never knew existed for me, one with love, trust, mutual respect, intimacy, and more.
A few of my single friends struggling with dating saw how happy I was and started asking me for dating advice, I helped support them throughout the whole dating process, and slowly one by one I watched as my friends got married to the loves of their lives.
I knew this was my calling, and that is when I decided to leave my corporate career and become a Dating Coach. I knew the importance of working with people’s lives and relationships, so I invested in my training and certification to become a Certified Master Relationship Coach at the Relationship Coaching Institute. Since then, I have helped countless singles not only find lasting love but, in the process, find love within themselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
First, I want to credit my husband; he is my biggest supporter through the most difficult challenges and achievements. Being an entrepreneur was utterly new to me. Transitioning from working for a company to starting my own practice was a shock to my system.
Although the good times supersede the challenges, I was ill-prepared for the feelings of self-doubt and insecurity that owning my business would bring when I started my company.
Even after all the personal development work I did, I realized I still needed support for the next chapter in my life. I’m never ashamed of asking for help. Today, I have a fantastic support system. My husband, coach, therapist, closest friends, and happy clients keep me going through the most challenging days.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I love that I get to work with singles all over the world. My non-judgmental approach creates a bright, safe space for clients to work through their most profound challenges and develop healthy relationship skills. Through my Private Coaching Program and Path to Love Group Coaching Program, I help singles break unhealthy dating beliefs, attitudes, and patterns through virtual coaching, video lessons, and breakthrough exercises. As a result, singles release their limiting beliefs, clearing a new pathway to the love and the happy life they want!
One of my most significant accomplishments is seeing the singles I work with find lasting love, get married, and create a family of their own. I’m a Master Certified Relationship Coach, published author, wife, and mother of two amazing pugs. Grateful to be named one of LA’s “Best Dating Coaches” by DatingAdvice.com. and featured in a variety of media outlets, including the CBS Network, Fox 5 News, People Entertainment Weekly HelloGiggles TV, ATTN: LiveStrong, and Martha Stewart Weddings and more.
