Life & Work with Sami DeMonster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sami DeMonster.

Hi Sami, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had an infinity towards the arts, I have been drawn to creating and branding since I was a kid. I used to sell little paper cell phones I drew or little cotton balls with goofy eyes on it in elementary school. I have since expanded into multiple mediums: digital art, photography, sculpting, and painting. I am continuously exploring the arts and learning what it means to be Sami DeMonster. My inspiration comes from vintage ads, pop art, and horror. I love the concept of fictional brands and advertising being mixed with a fun supernatural/horror element. I have taken this concept and started to create stickers which is a fun and accessible way to share my art!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Before I really found myself as an artist, I always struggled to find my brand and what I wanted to create. I have had a few unsuccessful tries at selling my art before I found my style, it always felt like I was going against the tide. Now I feel very confident about being Sami DeMonster. It feels like everything has naturally fallen into place, I have a brand, a style, a certain vibe. I am my own fan, my house is a Sami DeMonster art gallery! I make products for myself; I think if you like what you make then there will naturally be a market for you to find success in. I have spent the last few years crafting what “Sami DeMonster” means to me, and launching my online shop has been a dream come true. That people actually have my art in their hands is an incredible feeling.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in pop art/horror digital art. I love combining a branding/advertising element with a supernatural/horror theme. I love the fun side of Halloween and love bring that unique vibe to my art. I’m most proud of the online shop I have opened and the ability it has given me to share my art with people! My art is fun and brings a little bit of Halloween all year round!

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is the privilege I am beyond grateful for to not only create art but share it with people. When I see a newly printed sticker or art print, it fills me with so much joy, I love seeing my digital art come to life.
