Today we’d like to introduce you to Kourosh Beigpour.
Hi Kourosh, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since I was a child, I was fascinated by the translated stories depicting gules-verne’s imagination, which at some point, this fascination somehow guided me to continue art and design in my education. After my schooling, I began to take notice of Iranian traditional art immensely, where I now draw most of my inspiration from.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like life is, there are ups and downs. As an immigrant, the obstacle of adjusting, finding, and redefining myself and my art continues to take on the shape of the various societies I find myself in.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a graphic designer focusing on typography. I’ve been known for a font design that I completed for Google and Canada Type. I am proud to be a 1st generation Iranian-American that represents a multitude of renowned artists, non-profits, universities, and museums with my art and design. What sets me apart, I feel is my adoption of my traditional roots in a modern point of view. My goal is to bridge the gap between East in West by truly representing what makes the East East.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up Kurdish in Iran, I was a part of an ethnic minority. I grew up on the immense nature of Kermanshah and the mysticism within my culture. This shaped my personality to be one of contemplation and my deep interest in poetry and music flourished from these sources of inspiration.
