Inspiring Conversations with Jessica Meisels of Fingerprint Communications

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Meisels.

Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in New York City, I was lucky enough to meet some incredible women who became my mentors. Through my college years, I interned at couture fashion houses and a very big entertainment PR firm where I was inspired by the successful women powerhouses that I worked under and who first exposed me to the world of publicity. After just one summer at this agency working with clients such as Victoria’s Secret Angels Launch, The Rolling Stones, InStyle Magazine/Elton Johns 1st AMFAR Event, Heidi Klum, Molly Simms and more–I knew that PR was where I wanted to be and the seed to run my own agency was planted. I enjoyed every minute of the job which included strategic planning, creative writing, social networking and event planning. Post-graduation from University of Maryland, I went to work for an iconic NY publicist who allowed me to thrive in the business by taking me under her wing and showing me what makes the business of PR tick. What she taught me…PR is a business of relationships…grow them, own them, never lose them.

My time working with these multiple mentors were some of the most formative years of my entire career. The experience I gained from watching and being a part of that growth is immeasurable. However, during this time, I began to notice a lack of agencies in the industry that provided clients with full 360° PR strategies accompanied by solid relationships across media, celebrity and influencer. I had a vision to create a PR and marketing firm that specialized in building brand identities and consumer awareness through strategic public relations and marketing initiatives, buzz mobile marketing and event marketing programs. In 2003, Fingerprint Communications was born and I am so proud of the work we have done over the years. FPC offers its diverse clientele unrivaled services on a global scale, eliciting consistent and exceptional results with innovative and cutting-edge strategies.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In PR, there will be always obstacles to overcome as it is the nature of the industry. However, these challenges are turned into opportunities and have contributed to the overall growth of Fingerprint Communications. Being a female business owner for 25 years, I have seen the ups and downs of the industry and navigated through the challenges that come along with running a full-service PR company. I would say one of the biggest challenges in having a business for so long is managing the ongoing change in the media landscape. There was always editorial challenges in this business, but with many publications going digital and lead times changing consistently in addition to staffing changes… it is a bit of the wild, wild west out there right now for the media. It means more than ever that relationships are crucial to being successful.

With the rise of the digital influencer, the industry became over-saturated with “talent” and brands were quickly pivoting their marketing and PR efforts to focus on social media platforms instead of traditional media publications. My agency stuck to our core competencies of aligning brands with authentic Hollywood talent and building exciting PR campaigns to gain buzz around our clients. Today, we see Hollywood as the lifeline of many thriving brands and more and more companies want to ride that wave. Fingerprint Communications has our finger on the pulse of pop culture and we have the relationships to be able to build these successful campaigns for our clients.

We’ve been impressed with Fingerprint Communications, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fingerprint Communications is a full-service public relations and marketing agency that specializes in lifestyle, entertainment, hospitality, fashion, consumer goods, and technology. For the past 18 years, Fingerprint Communications has had a strong history of building brands and generating worldwide media coverage by consistently pushing the limits with trail-blazing, innovative, and one-of-a-kind entertainment marketing programs. Our ability to tailor and target our clientele in a diverse array of markets has propelled Fingerprint Communications to the forefront of leading PR agencies.

Fingerprint Communications’ unique approach enables the agency to collaborate on all marketing initiatives to create and maximize the media results for its clients. It is with this methodology that we have expanded into a global service company with clients including Airbnb, Air New Zealand, Virgin America, Outdoorsy, Lyft, Diageo (Ciroc, DeLeon Tequila, Ciroc VS), INDOGGO Gin by Snoop Dogg, Santo Tequila by Sammy Hagar and Guy Fieri, Hardrock Hotels International, Nobu Hotels, and Planet Hollywood Hotels, Sears and Oakley to name a few. The team at Fingerprint Communications has developed strong and meaningful results through a balance of strategic media coverage, tactical entertainment partnerships, establishing industry credibility and increasing consumer awareness.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to work in an industry that I have watched transform over the years and create a name for myself is something that I am extremely proud of. I have built a team from the ground up and have worked towards giving Fingerprint Communications an evergreen platform to stand on. Through this industry, I have been able to do all things that I love – travel the world, work with a diverse spectrum of people and develop long-standing and strong relationships with everyone I have come in contact with. Outside of work, my greatest accomplishments are my two children who consistently motivate me to work hard and lead by example. My love for my family along with the opportunity to share my experiences and accomplishments with them is the greatest reward and ultimately what encourages me to continue raising the bar and setting a new standard within the PR industry.
