Hidden Gems: Meet Mitchell Graves of Kingdom Health Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitchell Graves.

Hi Mitchell, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My (Mitchell) background and education is in engineering. I worked as an engineer for over six years, but my passion was always helping people in their health. So I did group fitness instruction and online training all while I was an engineer. My passion for helping people really comes from desiring people not to suffer in their health and believing we all the right to live a full, healthy life. Jeni’s has degrees in kinesiology and sports medicine. And although she knew the science, she still gained over 50 lbs in the years after college. It wasn’t until she got a diagnoses from her doctor and had to have several abdominal surgeries that she got serious about her health. Having watched her father die when she was younger from a preventable heart disease, she knew the importance of health.

While attending the bootcamp to lose the weight, she ended up taking over the business. She was able to lose the weight and has kept it off for several years now. When we both met, we still had our individual fitness businesses. She still had her outdoor bootcamp and I had an online health coaching business. But soon after meeting, we both decided to put both businesses down for a few years for different reasons. She went into full-time ministry and I went into full-time group fitness instruction. Right before COVID hit, I was let go from my group fitness job. Soon after COVID, Jeni was laid off from her ministry job. We then decided to just help people online with our health backgrounds. After a month of free content, people asked us to continue and suddenly, our Kingdom Health Academy was born. We’ve been doing that and helping people transform their spirit, soul, and body ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle has been learning to do business together while still in a young marriage and with a two years old son. We approach the business from different perspectives and we’re learning to appreciate those differences and use them to our advantage. The Kingdom Health Academy was started simply because we wanted to help people online during the pandemic and it has grown into a full business from there. Since its inception, we’ve had to learn how to facilitate online conferences, facilitate a group health coaching program, and learn internet marketing. All these new skills have definitely presented a unique challenge in the midst of a pandemic.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Kingdom Health Academy is a faith-based group health coaching program that helps Christians lose weight and transform their health. It uses the latest in coaching techniques, nutrition and health science, as well as biblical scripture to help people create a true and lasting transformation – not just behavior modification. We specialize in helping people apply the word of God to their health in a unique way. We also help them with the mindset needed to be successful in creating a healthy lifestyle. Our program is different from other programs because it addresses both the spiritual and natural side of people from a Christian perspective. We’re most proud of our member results and our retention rate. Once someone joins our Academy, it’s more than a program. It becomes a family because we enroll people in six months cohorts. They journey with others just like themselves. They get to know one another, pray for one another, and encourage one another. Our members have lost weight and kept it off, something they haven’t been able to do for years. They’ve had a complete mindset shift about themselves and what they’re capable of accomplishing. Many of them have gone on to launch businesses, non-profits, write books, and move into other areas of purpose that are meaningful to them.
