Life & Work with Bryant Santos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryant Santos.

Hi Bryant, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up on the remote island of Guam and like many others who grew up in a small town, I always longed for something more. After I graduated college as class valedictorian from Full Sail University with a BS in Entertainment Business, I moved out to Los Angeles to follow my dreams of working in the exciting entertainment industry. One of my first gigs in entertainment was as an entertainment host and writer for Maria Menounos’ AfterBuzz TV.

Unfortunately, COVID19 had other plans for my first job. While working for AfterBuzz TV as a host, I was also working full-time at Disneyland as a member of their college program, but COVID19 had other plans for that job as well. I was eventually laid off from Disneyland at the start of the pandemic, but the silver lining was that it allowed me to focus on AfterBuzz TV more. I was extremely grateful to be entrusted with a daily interview show after only being with AfterBuzz for three months. I solo-hosted AfterBuzz’s original series “Quarantine With The Stars”, where I chatted with a different celebrity every day about their upcoming projects and their quarantine life, all while quarantined at home myself (and making Zoom my new best friend). After a few months, AfterBuzz eventually went into broadcast hiatus and became editorial only.

Also around that same time, unemployment benefits started to run out and I needed to get back to what was paying the bills. Today, I am back at the company that gave me my first job as I am currently a Personal Stylist at Macy’s while still grinding towards my dreams of entertainment. When I have the time, I make some TikToks, look up agents, or do anything I can to reach my goals of becoming a household name and making my family and friends back home on our 30-mile island proud. Oh, and I started my real estate licensing during quarantine, thanks to Selling Sunset on Netflix. Haha.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My start in entertainment was more than smooth, it was incredible honestly. I got a chance to work with Maria Menounos, one of the biggest names in Entertainment News, and her and her team even entrusted me to host a daily show after working with them for only three months. I also got to work at the biggest entertainment company in the world with Disney! That was all within my first six months of moving to Los Angeles. HOWEVER, the struggle was COVID19. I had two amazing gigs in entertainment that I truly loved but COVID19 put a wrench in both of those plans. While I was unfortunately laid off completely from Disney, I was extremely grateful to AfterBuzz for moving to Zoom broadcast and for keeping their (virtual) doors open for us newbies to the industry, especially during the pandemic.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My background is in dance and gymnastics as I am a former competitive dancer and gymnast. I hold a national title in dance and have always loved performing in any way. These days, I want to say I’m a bit of a content creator/entertainment host/fashion blogger? Haha. Due to the COVID19 pandemic (and the cost of rent in LA), I’ve had to shift my focus to a job that will pay the bills as opposed to the uncertainty of the creative/entertainment industry. I am currently a Personal Stylist at Macy’s and am part of their ambassador program, where I create content geared toward Macy’s products and services. When I have time (outside of work and studying for the real estate exam), I also create fun dance and comedy content on TikTok and Instagram and I’m also looking into the acting world!

What’s next?
If I’m being completely honest (and even though this sounds like such a copout), I don’t know what’s next for me. The entertainment world is honestly in kind of a standstill due to the pandemic and most companies aren’t really hiring either. However, I am not planning to give up my dreams of entertainment any time soon. Right now, I’m trying to spend all my time paying off bills with my current job while also spending every second of free time I have to study for the real estate exam (and hopefully get on next season’s cast of Selling Sunset). Once I get back to a better financially stable place, I am hoping to focus more on content creation on social media, as well as trying my hand at acting. CAN ONE OF MY TIKTOKS PLEASE GO VIRAL?!
