Meet Hydea Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hydea Collins.

Hi Hydea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My passion for photography began a few years ago when I held my first Nikon, and every since the desire to be behind the camera has increased. In the beginning of my journey into photography it was just a passion but eventually it leads to me investing in myself and taking classes to expand my knowledge into what it would take to build a business.

In 2019, I took signed up for a class called Shooters Camp and it changed my life. I was able to learn so much about what it takes to run a successful photography and videography business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Life in general comes with bumps and bruises but it’s those bumps and bruises that you learn from. Some obstacles I had to face was losing my grandmother my last year in college and losing my father some months later. You may think well what does that have to do with your business. Losing someone can change so much in your life. I lost so much hope and confidence in myself. It was affecting my creativity on what or how I wanted to do things. I was getting so discouraged I was not getting the clients I desired because I was letting fear get in the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I enjoy doing portraits, events, product photography, studio shooting and families.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I always have a jam session before every shoot.
