Meet Jordan Mangaliman of GoldLine Financial in La Mirada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Mangaliman.

Jordan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was growing up I always knew I wanted two main things out of my future career- working with money and most importantly helping people.

My journey started as a senior in high school when my late father BJ Mangaliman was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in 2009 at the age of 49. After four years, his cancer advanced to stage 4 and spread into his spine and into his brain. My family’s world had been flipped upside down and we went through a turbulent financial crisis. We were unprepared and as my father’s cancer continued to advance, we searched for life’s pause button so we could focus on helping him get better. Unfortunately, that button didn’t exist and the constant responsibilities of life continued. Paying for the mortgage, utilities, phone bills, tuition and more began to pile up and we were left searching for stability.

It was at this point that I knew that I never wanted to experience such a devastating financial hardship again and that no family should have to go through what we went through. My father passed away in 2013 at age 54 just 12 days after my 22nd birthday. Through hard work together as a family, sacrifice and discipline, we were able to recover. After graduating from UC Riverside, I immediately started my career in financial services.

With proper planning, my family could have avoided our financial crisis. I told myself that I would not let my father pass away in vain. He now serves as my inspiration to educate everyone I meet on the importance of financial literacy, being prepared and planning ahead. I currently serve as the CEO of GoldLine Financial and lead a team of over 175 team members that share our same passion for financial education.

There’s a saying that goes “A wise man turns his wounds into wisdom.” I believe that’s what I continue to do as our team strives to empower you to build and protect your wealth. While financial literacy and proper protection serves as the foundation of our mission, our goal is for our clients to begin their journey to financial independence. Wealth empowerment starts with understanding the building blocks of systematic wealth.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In the early years of our journey, our team faced the financial challenges of bootstrapping a company from the bottom up. As a newly founded business, it was difficult securing financing and business loans to fund our venture. By focusing on sweat equity, our team sacrificed longer hours to make sure we would complete the projects that would move our company forward.

We are very adamant about our company’s culture of integrity of putting our clients’ needs first at all times. As a young entrepreneur out of college, I had to learn to have tough conversations with team members who were sometimes twice my age who were not aligning with our company’s culture. Our company’s culture of servant leadership always served as a non-negotiable. Both of these struggles proved to be some of our biggest lessons. In terms of financing, we studied the power of leverage and lines of credit to fund projects. This has become an integral part of our business as we educate our clients on how to secure financing for their own ventures.

Keeping our team accountable to our company’s culture, morals, and ethics has been a driving force in our success. We are forever grateful for our early struggles because it only strengthened our company standards and bonds with our team members.

GoldLine Financial – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We focus on financial strategies that weren’t taught to us in school.

As a true financial education company, we challenge our clients to think outside the box. What they have been doing thus far has taken them to where they are now, but to experience different results we encourage them to shift their mindset.

One of the biggest financial challenges people face is the influx of information on personal finance to sift through. From YouTube videos, audiobooks, podcasts, advice from friends and more…how do you know what will work for you and what won’t? That’s where we step in and focus on education before you make any decisions.

You may receive some good advice from other companies, but putting your plan into action and seeing it through is a totally different story. Our implementation team breaks down your custom strategy into actionable steps which keeps you in the driver’s seat at all times. Whether your goals are getting out of debt, reducing your taxes, buying your first home, or buying turnkey cash flow real estate- we’re in your corner working with you to get there.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Success is much more than a dollar figure or quantity of assets. To me, it has a direct correlation to the positive impact I’ve had on the people around me and on the people I may never meet.

In my professional life, success is helping our clients erase their financial insecurities and actually reach financial independence. Seeing our team members thrive and grow as leaders gives me a sense of fulfillment that is difficult to put into words.

Whether it’s helping at a homeless shelter, mentoring youth in underserved communities, or serving at our local church- I find that some of my greatest moments of happiness come from service.

Success is a moving target that will continuously demand a better version of me at each new level. I’ve learned that the journey paved with experiences and invaluable relationships is much more important than the destination.

Who else deserves credit– have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so – who are they and what role did they plan / how did they help.
I have an amazing support system that has been integral in my journey. My mother and father Ging and Bj Mangaliman always encouraged me in everything I did growing up. This confidence in myself served as my foundation to become an entrepreneur and tackle any challenge that came my way.

My industry mentors are a wealth of knowledge whom I am forever grateful for. They took a chance on me and spent their valuable time pointing me in the right direction. Their sage advice continues to prove how important it is to have a mentor in anything you’re passionate about.

Next, the person who deserves an insurmountable amount of credit is my fiance Giselle Victorio. When we first started dating, I had just launched our company and desperately needed someone to help me with marketing and operations. She had been working in marketing for years and after a few months, took the leap to join our team. With no secure paycheck or initial benefits, she was right there with me in the trenches working late nights and early mornings on company projects. She now serves as our Chief Marketing Officer and her contributions have been integral to our company’s success.

Without our clients who believe in us, there would be no GoldLine Financial. They are the reason why our company exists and we value each and everyone of them. Our team of financial professionals truly align with our vision and have become a second family. Without their dedication it would have been impossible to have served the thousands of clients our company has helped.
