Meet Samora Christian of Esdee Beauty in DMV (DC, MD, VA)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samora Christian.

Samora, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had an interest in fashion and beauty since a young age. I started doing makeup on friends and family in high school and slowly but surely became a freelance makeup artist. In 2017, I started my blog website 3MMedia, where I discuss fashion news, beauty tips and featured my other hobby (photography). Fast forward to July 2020, I launched my business Esdee Beauty (makeup services and cosmetics).

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve definitely had my share of difficulty. I still sometimes struggle with self-doubt and anxiety. As a plus-size black girl, I used to put myself down a lot but I had to learn that to get what I wanted out of life, I had to gain my confidence and change my mindset. Despite being far from where I once was, I still have to do the work to keep myself positive and motivated. You have to want the glory more than the grief!

Esdee Beauty – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
3MMedia: is my blog website which is very dear to me. At the time of launching it, I was in a period of renewal, embracing myself and my new outlook. I use 3MMedia as a way to put all things about me (creatively) in one place. You can find my well-worded opinion on all things fashion, beauty, trending news, health and my photography.

Esdee Beauty: is my first legit business (LLC on the way!). I learned the skill of brow tinting and brow waxing which are services I offer along with makeup application. I also will be launching my first cosmetic product in September, an eyebrow pencil! I plan to grow by offering more cosmetic products and accessories!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by being able to always push yourself despite the adversity you might face. The people that are successful got to that point by never giving up, even if they wanted to. If you are able to always keep your vision/goals in your mind, even when you feel like you’ve failed, you will win cause you know that there’s always another option better than quitting.
