Meet Drew Brasher of Brasher the Rager in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Brasher.

Drew, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I come from Nashville, born and raised. The area/town I grew up in is diverse, so as far as music I’ve had a huge variety of influences. I started writing when I was 13 after listening to a bunch of New York 90s rap and being interested in how they put words together. I didn’t actually record though until I was 17 at my boy Mark’s studio. And it’s been a grind since. There hasn’t been a lot of opportunity for this out there, the country music scene controls Nashville. So my goals are simple, achieve success and promote it. I want to be an influence where I’m from so people know it can happen.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not exactly, I’ve been down the wrong road a few times. I grew up in a pretty strict household so when I was 18, I instantly moved out and wanted for more. But that eagerness led me to certain crowds, and drugs I shouldn’t have been around. I used to pull up to tenement buildings and just snort subutex all day. Mentally I had to fix myself, my diet was awful and I was smoking a pack a day. Still, a work in progress but boxing and my love for music keeps me in check.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My lack of respect for a ruleset or blueprint. I don’t care or want to do anything like anyone else. I know what’s necessary to gain mass attention, like social media and streaming platforms, but I want my music to be like nothing you’ve heard before. And I feel like that’s what makes me stand out.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the opportunity, I feel like it’s on every corner. Where I’m from people don’t even know what to do for fun let alone what to do to achieve a massive amount of success. And I guess what I dislike the most is the amount of traffic.
