Today we’d like to introduce you to Tundae Mena.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started taking photos in high school. I always loved cameras then I got my own film camera because I loved the final product and handing people prints of themselves. That evolved into just going out to events and taking portraits and nudes to generally photographing anything and everything. I love taking photos, why not do it for the rest of my life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I don’t come from money and photography is not a cheap endeavor to get into whether film or digital. It all adds up. You don’t need a bunch to start but you do need resources to maintain a business and that is not cheap. Having to forego leveling up to tend to life’s costs can really set you back if you don’t have what clients are asking for equipment wise.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Olufemi Sees You is my media company and lifestyle brand. It’s centered around creating visual media via photography and video as well as stepping into apparel and different utilitarian merchandise.
We aren’t super known just yet but were known for our work and being prolific. I’m always shooting. What sets us apart is the backstory. Who we are and where we come from. You’re getting a unique perspective on the world from a unique individual.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very to myself. I hung out with others but spent a lot of time with my imagination. Always creating ideas, scenarios, themes. I enjoyed learning about things I was into. Whether it be music, martial arts, anime, films, I would just go in really deep and learn as much as possible.
In high school, I was outgoing with a big personality. Quiet at times but energetic when the situation made sense for it.
