Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Martinez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Melissa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It is hard to know when I exactly got started, but all my training for 19 years has led me to this place. I have always been interested in metaphysics, meditation, self-help, and psychology. When I hit 21, I got extremely depressed and it turned out to be such a blessing. It sent me down a road that made me feel alone, and a feeling of such discontent in this world. My interest in astrology and self-help that I enjoyed reading accidentally led me out of being depressed, and it led me down a road to receive professional training in my interests to help others.
I started Divine Scarlet because I knew it was time for me to create a platform for me to launch into really taking seriously my commitment to healing people and our planet. My site is not created just to make money, but as for an energy exchange to take place between clients and myself. When I offer them a reading, I don’t just give them a reading, I provide them tools to take with them to be able to take with them on their journey.
I have taken professionally astrology school for seven years, and have been teaching astrology on my own for the past seven years. I do oracle and tarot card readings for clients and suggest further materials to learn. I have my degree from college in Psychology, I have studied and am initiated into a form of ritual magic for six years, and have received my certificate in Manifesting over the past four years.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There will always be obstacles, but that is all part of the journey. If we just got everything we wanted right away, we would not appreciate it as much when we got to the end goal. We are always growing and changing, and struggle is part of life. There will be times you question if it is the right path, but that will just be your ego. It is important to know thyself, and no when it is only your “ego” speaking. My suggestion is to get up and try again, and again, your life path will always take you back to your true goals, just stop and listen to the voice within, if you ever question yourself.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am the maker of “The Break Up Deck” there is no Oracle cards that exist that are like it. I made these especially for Women but then changed them to be Unisex cards. It are all the messages that one thinks in their mind as they go thru a breakup, and it explains how to stop having negative thought patterns, wondering why it happened, and how to get back into the SELF, and learning Self Love.
The reason I made them is that they truly are my experience with break up’s and when I was going thru one, I searched and searched for cards like these and found they did not exist. So I created them.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I feel that early conditioning and family religion pressured me to be like everyone else. I knew I was not like everyone else, and always had a real connection to spirituality. I remember when I was five years old in school looking out the window at the sun hitting the grass we were growing in our science project. I remember feeling that there was more “GOD” within the sun then I felt at church. I vowed to myself at five years old when I grew up, I would figure it out. I read every religious and spiritual book I could get my hands on when I hit about 21, which ultimately led me here.
