Meet Tal Rabinowitz of The DEN Meditation in Mid City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tal Rabinowitz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tal. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I spent 20 years in the Entertainment Industry. I was running Comedy at NBC when I began meditating. As I was meditating daily (blocking it off on my schedule) I was searching for a place that I could drop in before work, or during lunch to take a meditation class and I couldn’t find one. I felt like if I could do that I would have a much more regular meditation practice. I was in disbelief that I could go to yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, yoga booty ballet etc. all at different times during the day and there was nothing for meditation. When my job ended at NBC, I began to set the foundation of creating the DEN.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have always been a driven person, so struggles to me are just part of moving forward, they are not obstacles. The energy flow has been incredible, the community that has formed around it unbelievable, and the growth has been beautiful. Was the first year easy? No, it was exhausting and testing, but incredible all the same. I had a newborn baby at home as well, so I was just taking care of two VERY important things that needed an incredible amount of nurturing. So I was just pulled thin, but every second was and is worth it!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The DEN Meditation – what should we know?
We specialize in drop in meditation classes. We are for the people. Everyone and anyone can come in and take advantage of what we have to offer, our only requirement is that you be yourself. We always say. Come as you are and leave feeling better. I am so proud of the community that has built and the fact that people of all ages are coming in and benefiting from what we offer. If we can make anyone feel better, be happier, have more clarity, feel more balanced, then we did our part. I think our authenticity sets us apart. Yes, it is a business, but we do really care about everyone who walks in the door, and we do really love what we are putting out there. The amount of classes and variety we have provides something for everyone.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Of course! So many. I mean my mother always told me I could do anything, so I give her a ton of credit as I never really stopped to think that I couldn’t do it.

My husband is my financial partner and the place would legitimately not exist without him.

So many of our teachers I spoke with before we opened and they really helped me and gave me so much guidance; Nicholas Bruss, Heather Prete, Chandresh Bhardwaj and Benjamin Decker are a few that were so important to me and our development before we even opened our doors.
