Today we’d like to introduce you to Rita Janikyan.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Armenia in 1991 and at age 7, I moved to Russia with my parents where I learned thread mosaic technique. Thread Mosaic Is an artwork made from fine chopped threads of different colors. This is a very unique art technology that not many artists use. I participated in many art exhibits in Russia when I was a teenager and won a few awards. In my opinion, there is no such a thing to “learn art” Art comes in you; you have to be born with it, so I think I was born with the art in my heart. After ten years living in Russia, I moved to USA.
In 2014 I had my first personal art exhibit in LA. After this I stopped doing this for five years, I gave a break to myself, during this time I went to school where I learned Beauty to Special effects make up which I really liked. I really liked body painting and the special effects I got on my model’s trough makeup.
When I was a student in makeup school I had an opportunity to demonstrate in IMATS, and also I got another opportunity to be a part of the projects where me and my team got publication for Maxim magazine, this was my first cover photo. Working in this field is a big pleasure and I really enjoy what I do. With every single photoshoot or every single project, I find myself falling in love with this job more and more
Please tell us about your art.
As I already mentioned thread mosaic is a unique technology that uses to present the artworks. What inspires me? Very difficult question I think, there are so many things that inspire me; one of my inspirations is my dad he is a musician and every time he plays I get new ideas. I think his music inspires me the most.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I think competition is a big challenge that a lot of artists face today, but there is nothing changed. And nothing affects my art.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
Very soon I am planning a new project which in my opinion will stand out due to its special characteristics. People can find out about this project very soon from my social media and website. All my works and what I currently do and work on are on my social media sites and website so that is the easiest way to see my works.
