Meet Ruzanna Tovmasyan of Ruminate

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I grew up in an Armenian family with ten kids, eight boys and two girls. My family moved to America as refugees from the Soviet Union with pretty much nothing. I was born in Sacramento but I grew up in Cleveland Ohio. Throughout my life, I struggled with depression, health issues that included autoimmune problems and battled severe anxiety. At the age of 17, I went through a rather horrific surgery that completely changed my life for the worse. Through the mishandling of doctors, I became addicted to the medications that they had connected to me through my spine. After 22 days of non-stop epidural, it was removed cold turkey and my brain paid a price for it. Since then, I have struggled with concentrating, developed a panic and anxiety disorder which left me debilitated at times and I don’t know when I’m going to be feeling well. That can cause some issues as you can imagine. What helped me move forward was holding onto hope and believing that all things will work out for good. That if I can walk this out, I can bring someone else hope who is struggling too. I believe that I am living for something bigger than myself.

When I was 20 years old, I started writing, producing and directing theatre productions. I’ve always loved the arts and storytelling, I believe a really powerful story can change lives and inspire hope. I did that for five years in Cleveland and it really prepared me to run my business. Fast forward to today, I have a full production company that helps clients tell their story and impart their wisdom globally while creating residual income.

This company was birthed out of turmoil. I was working for a non-profit in 2018 and I played a role in creating and developing eCourses for this organization. I learned the ins and outs of what it took to create a successful online course. Things were rather difficult in the workplace, and I felt in my gut that my job was no longer secure. I began to ask myself, “What skills do I have that I can use to create wealth?” and then a thought came, “You know how to create eCourses, tell people!”. I began texting all my friends that were teachers, speakers or experts in their field of work and finally one person got back to me. I began working with him as a freelance worker just to make some cash on the side until I figured my life out. Next thing I knew, knowledge about my work began to spread to others and I received more inquiries to create eCourses. That’s when I realized that I should probably make this official. A friend of mine had the idea to name my company RUMINATE because it means to think deeply about something, and that is what we do, we create content to make people think deeply in efforts to bring enrichment to their lives.

We believe in aiding leaders in the creative process and doing the heavy lifting so they don’t have to carry that burden. We take their knowledge and content, write their script, design and build their set, coach them during the filming process, edit the course in post-production, build their school, create the notes, quizzes and pdf’s, and prepare them to start creating residual income. We have affordable options to build with them through consulting, coaching or build it for them all together.

My heart’s desire was to help create income for those who are making a difference in the world in order for them to be free of financial stresses. In doing so, they can focus on making a positive impact in their sphere of influence. Also, I want to create a safe place for people to work. I experienced working in a very toxic environment where the staff was not cared for and I do not want anyone to ever experience what I went through, so I vowed to be that leader to make a difference. I now have six contractors that work on my team, they have the freedom to work remotely and with deadlines to meet. We’ve really become a family working together. I believe in investing in people, and that our overall mission has to be people. If you take care of your people, your people will take care of you. Businesses thrive when the people are honored, valued, and invested in. We must lead in honor.

I’ve had the odds stacked against me. If I can move forward, help others and see my dreams begin to manifest then so can everyone else. Have faith, surround yourself with people who can lift you up when you’re down and speak life into you when you want to give up. You can do it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have had to learn how to work with each client in their own process. Sometimes there is just no formula in doing things, it takes time to listen to each client’s story and what are they trying to accomplish.

We’ve gone weeks at a time without speaking to new clients or booking any work, which has forced us to regroup and ask “what else can we offer to aid people in their process?”. Turmoil again comes to the rescue to birth creativity and ideas.

For those that would rather have us cover all the details for them, we create their script through outlining their material into bite size portions, we create the set to capture the heartbeat of the course, we film the course and we create and launch the school for global reach. Marketing is what sells the course and our experts are well prepared to help each client prosper.
