Meet Josh Levy of Fink & Company in Woodland Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Levy.

Josh, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story begins with soccer. I spent my life playing soccer and went all the way to the collegiate level. I originally had a dream to be a professional soccer player, but I realized there may not be a long-term career in soccer. My family from London was in accounting (uncle & grandpa). I always had an interest in finance and analyzing businesses. I found that in the accounting world, I could help businesses and individuals with their tax planning and their business growth. I found I could be their trusted advisor and person they go to with all sorts of questions. I am a partner at Fink & Company and have been in the industry for over ten years. The reason I came back to Fink & Company was partially due to their involvement in soccer. The partner and I are involved in the local youth recreational/club soccer organization. I was able to bring my passion of soccer and love for helping businesses together under one roof!

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggle along the way was the CPA exam. This was one of the most grueling exams I had ever been through. I was working full time at an accounting firm and studying at night and on the weekends. I spent countless hours learning as much as possible and hit a few roadblocks along the way. I was able to pull through and pass the exam! So happy that exam is over with. 😊

Los Angeles is a great city to start an accounting firm. There are plenty of businesses looking for assistance and guidance as they grow. There are many individuals who need help with tax planning. If you are just starting out, I would recommend working for a firm first and getting the lay of the land under your belt. Build up a side clientele and hustle. When your side clientele becomes sufficient to go out on your own, make the leap!
