Today we’d like to introduce you to Mynor Garcia.
Mynor, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started diving into liquid light shows back in 2017 after seeing the Mad Alchemist liquid light show at Desert Daze. The show intrigued me, to the point where I said, “I can do that.” After that, I went home bought an overhead projector, then later I created Third Circle Visuals. The name comes from a distinct mole that I have on my face, which is located right on my third eye on the center of my forehead. I call it my Third Circle. Now a year and a half later, we have done over 45 shows, and more are now booked. I am constantly striving for new ideas for my show, along with new techniques to make the show the unique vibe it is today.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I specialize in liquid art. Liquid art has been around since the 1960s. This type of art defined the era and accompanied psychedelic bands like the Grateful Dead and the Doors. I have been doing analog visuals for a year, and now just diving into the digital realm. My inspiration is the music and the bands I do visuals for. I want to perform along with the band and have people really be lost in the live show experience. I want people to go home and realize that the analog and live visual experience is alive and thriving. Many people think that we just plug in projectors and let video play, when in fact the whole show is live and being created on the spot.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The biggest challenge in liquid art is staying original. The field is growing, so you always have to differentiate yourself within a crowded field. Also budget, many artists think they can pay low for something that makes the show great. For them, it looks “easy” when in fact, all shows take work and dedication. Sometimes shows can run long hours, and when you’re working two jobs, it can take alot out of you.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can come to the many shows we have every month. Our shows are promoted on Instagram which is our main platform.
