Meet Denver Sean of lovebscott.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denver Sean.

Denver, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was a sophomore in college at the University of Georgia (2009) when I started a music blog with a friend who lived overseas. Because he was overseas, he would get new music releases often times way ahead of the United States — he’d send them to me, and I’d review/share them. It was in the height of the music piracy days.

Anyway, I was a fan of B. Scott and lovebscott.com already and realized my music taste aligned with the site — so I began forwarding new releases along. Eventually, B. Scott asked if I wanted to write for lovebscott.com. I quickly agreed because writing about music was my passion and I needed the extra cash.

It wasn’t long before B. Scott recognized my writing ability, and I branched out from music-related articles to general entertainment. As other writers came and went over the years, I took on the editor position. Fast-forward now ten years later and I’m Editor-in-Chief of lovebscott.com, co-host ‘The B. Scott Show’ podcast, and working on a few other projects.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’m in a unique position. Although I didn’t create lovebscott.com, it’s a brand I’ve dedicated the last ten years of my life to, and I have a deep attachment to it. As with all industries, we’ve experienced our fair share of ups and downs — missed opportunities, deals that have fallen through, celebrity outrage, threats of lawsuits, etc.

The biggest struggle has been to keep persistent, stay positive, and to keep going. Being an independent site means you create your own rules, but you also have to adapt and realize the rules are constantly changing.

It’s not as simple as clocking into a job, doing your assigned work, and clocking out. Each day is different and comes with its own set of challenges.

lovebscott.com – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I wear a ton of hats, but my main hat is as editor-in-chief of lovebscott.comlovebscott.com is one of the largest independent celebrity news and entertainment networks in the digital space — spearheaded by the amazing B. Scott.

As EIC, I manage a team of writers, and we crank out aggregated celebrity news and entertainment content. What sets lovebscott.com apart from others is that B. Scott’s personal connections in both the entertainment and digital world lend credibility to lovebscott.com exclusive stories that is unparalleled.

Over the last ten years, I’ve worked tirelessly alongside B. to change the stigma surrounding celebrity news, gossip, and entertainment. While the content can be perceived as ‘negative’ or ‘shady,’ the need for celebrity news, gossip, and entertainment persist.

While offering up lighthearted opinions and the occasional witty joke, we believe in telling it like it is — the good AND the bad. Aside from that, I bring the site to life by hosting ‘The B. Scott Show’ podcast.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
It’s hard for me to name just ‘one’ because I’m a firm believer in celebrating ‘small victories.’ The fact that I’ve been able to sustain doing what I do is because I learned quickly that it’s not one moment that makes your career pop — but consistent good (and not-so-good) moments.

What I can say is that co-hosting ‘The B. Scott Show’ podcast is my newest endeavor, and it’s the most rewarding right now. For the first time, people get to hear me as ‘Denver’ and see how my voice differs slightly from the ‘lovebscott’ brand — and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. The support feels really nice.
