Meet Yamira Vanegas of Loquita Bath and Body in Norwalk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yamira Vanegas.

Yamira, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Loquita started with a crazy idea to create a line dedicated specifically and inspired by the Latinx culture. We felt that many people use bath time as a part of self-care and we wanted to create something inspired by things that as a Latinx you love like conchas, elotes and raspados. We started small, doing this after our 9 to 5 and managed to grow it to the point of being able to quit our job to pursue this.

Has it been a smooth road?
Never! For myself personally the struggle has been keeping up and knowing how to ask for help. Realizing that no you cannot do it all by yourself and it is ok to ask for help and recognizing that you cannot keep growing without getting help is something that I have come to realize has stood in my way but once you ask for help you release this huge burden you did not even realize you were holding!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Loquita is the creator of the Original Concha bath bomb. We specialize in Latinx bath and body and THAT is what sets us apart. We are proud that we have been able to take things from our culture that we have grown up with to inspire all sorts of bath products that people love.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely! Los Angeles has a huge Latinx community with all sorts of markets and events that revolve around our culture, which are a great way to show upcoming generations the culture and share with them the ever evolving state of it.
