Meet Johanna Pinksu Marjomaa of Pinksu Makeup in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johanna Pinksu Marjomaa.

Johanna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Finland. I have always been an artist, I started to paint and draw when I was able to grab a pen or brush to my hand. My life changed when I was 15 years old when I got cancer and it changed my life completely. When I survived I decided to go after my dreams.

I have graduated from 2 different art schools and ended up to go to a makeup school. I love to create art, but I love to be around people, so being a makeup artist is just a perfect fit for me. I started my own makeup company 2005 and ever since I have done makeup, hair and bodypaint for shootings, magazines, commercials, music videos and reality TV.

I moved to Los Angeles beginning of 2017 from Helsinki, Finland. California is my dream come true. I love sunshine and happy people and all the possibilities what LA has to offer! I love to work with amazing, creative people. I also love pink color, all my clothes are pink like my home too and I feel like I can share good vibrations around me! It fills my heart to make people smile!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Moving to another country all by myself was challenging, but life is about growing and learning. I have met amazing new friends and I feel like life is supporting me where ever I go. There are angels in the city of Los Angeles. 😉

We’d love to hear more about your business.
“Pinksu represents creative make-up artists of true Scandinavian quality. She is not only considered a brand but also one of the absolute best in the field. Since 2005, her magic touch has been seen in tv shows, tv ads, music videos, magazines, editorials, fashion shows, corporate publications as well as private parties and big trade shows.”

Quote from www.pinksu.com.

I am a really hard working, humble, creative person, I am very meticulous and passionate when it comes to my work. I always want my clients to be happy and to feel the best version of her/himself after my makeup. I am a trustworthy makeup artist. I love to show up on time and I’m proud of it.

I love to do beauty makeup, but also Halloween is something I’m looking forward to every year when I get to do zombies and skulls etc. I also like to do kids face painting and different kinds of bodypaint. You can check some of my work in Instagram @pinksumakeup.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been kind and loving, I want to share hugs and love where ever I go. I love art, dance, nature, reading and healthy lifestyle. Surviving cancer made me realize how important it is to enjoy every moment in life.
