Conversations with Danielle Jakes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Jakes.

Hi Danielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The idea for A Blend of Health started with something simple a craving for a good, healthy smoothie without having to drive across town to get one. My first job in high school was at Jamba Juice, so I already knew how to create smoothies. I just wanted to come up with a healthier option that fit my lifestyle and vision and that’s exactly what I did.

Smoothies were the very first product for A Blend of Health. As time went on, the business evolved, and eventually cold-pressed juices became a part of the brand as well. What started as a personal desire for healthier, more convenient options turned into a passion for creating fresh, flavorful drinks that others could enjoy too.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been far from easy, but with the help of my family and friends, they definitely made things a lot easier. Creating the juice was the easy part. The real obstacles came with everything behind the scenes figuring out the cost of quality labels, learning taxes, applying for city permits for the first time, and even figuring out whether I needed permits just to set up at events. Then there was the challenge of somehow fitting 100 bottles of juice, a 10×10 tent, and a folding table into my four-door Camry.
Finding produce at reasonable prices is still an ongoing challenge, but we continue to push through the tough things we can’t control. Every obstacle has taught us something, and every challenge has made A Blend of Health stronger.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create an experience using fruits, vegetables, and herbs through cold pressed juices and blended drinks. I specialize in crafting flavorful, nutrient-rich juices that not only taste great but also inspire healthier lifestyles. I’m known for helping change the mindset in urban communities around healthy juice options and showing people that wellness can be both enjoyable and accessible.

What I’m most proud of is changing people’s perception of healthy juices and encouraging them to try something fresh and beneficial for their bodies. What truly sets me apart is my passion for reaching underserved communities and exposing them to fresh-pressed juices as a healthier alternative to the unhealthy options they may be used to.

At A Blend of Health, the goal has always been bigger than juice. It’s about creating healthier habits, bringing awareness to better choices, and proving that healthy can still be flavorful, convenient, and made for everyone.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
With health awareness being at an all-time high, I truly believe the movement toward healthier living will only continue to grow over time. More people are becoming educated and exposed to healthier options every day, and the demand for wellness-focused products is increasing.

In the next 5–10 years, I hope to see more juice bars than liquor stores in our communities. I believe the desire for healthier lifestyles will become even more attractive and normalized. My goal is for A Blend of Health to continue being a part of that change by making fresh, flavorful, cold-pressed juices accessible to everyone especially in underserved communities where healthier options are often limited.
