Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana El Masri.
Hi Dana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a perfumer for 16 years, and I have had my brand, Jazmin Saraî for 12 years. I’m also an interdisciplinary artist, I love to work with olfaction and other mediums.
I’m happy to say I’ve lived in LA for almost 3 years now!
My brand is as multi-cultural as I am. I started Jazmin Saraï in Montreal, in 2014, I moved to NY and brought it with me, and now we’re here!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth at all, but I knew what I was getting myself into. I tend to follow the curved lines. The changing landscape; whether it’s socioeconomic, environmental, or financial, has been challenging.
What I struggle the most with is running the business as a creative person.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love using olfaction as my main lens, while connecting other mediums.
I truly believe that my life experiences give me a unique outlook on life and my industry. I try to look at thing in a holistic way, while also doing deep cultural research. Intention is everything.
I have more work at www.danaelmasri.com
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
To stay humble, keep learning and adapting!
