Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan James.
Hi Bryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew that I was a performer and I was always in love with the industry and with films and acting. I studied with Ivana Chubbuck and booked a role as Jim from Rebel Without a Cause as well as a few other things that got me a SAG card. I starred in an Emmy nominated web series called Youthful Daze from 2012 to 2016 and then also in a cop drama mini series called Bloodbath in 2021 and most recently in a Fatal Attraction remake called Reckless and a provocative new short film Gigolo. I continue to evolve as a performer and artist and build my brand as a digital performer in this modern era. I ultimately want to be working in studio films and tv shows and I’ve been making my own content to get there.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s not been a smooth road at all and I wouldn’t wish any of the singular distinction that has befallen me onto anyone else because it comes at a cost and a price. You loose something, a human connection in a basic simplicity when this is the circumstance making your own projects and starring in them because your greatest supporter is probably a stranger and your worst advisory is your latest co star or acquaintance jealous of the perceived success and what not, competitive, toxic, isolating at times. No one wants to hear about it either. There is no place to vent. The pettiness is really normalized. Everyone wants to get to the top. Everyone is trying to climb somewhere taller than themselves and everyone is endlessly the star of their own movie and that is kind of startling and eye opening when your in a position to be uniquely creating you own things like a metaphorical pirate on the dock making your own way and standing tall while they try to push you off because how dare you have the audacity to dream bigger than most or actually pull it off. And more than once. You have to decide for yourself that the wins are personal and self motivated. The noise and the ruthlessness and the intentions and agendas are not rooted in anything personal or need to even be engaged with. I learned all of this through the act of perceived success. It just teaches you more about the world around you and it’s hard not to see what the underneath is driving a person once that become present in your life consistently. People are self motivated more than ever and self care requires extreme self love.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have starred in alot of content released online including my feature film Reckless and short film Gigolo recently and I continue to star in original content distributed to audiences online. I aim and want to work as an actor in studio films and audition for major work in the interim of making more content for YouTube and I’m proud to be a pioneer in the digital frontier as the industry continues to evolve and grow and reshape itself.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m available to message on Instagram (@bryanandrewjames) and I also recently started posting on backstage for projects and I’m always open to collaborating with creatives that want to continue to make art for fun.
