Rising Stars: Meet Emilio Lann of Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emilio Lann.

Hi Emilio, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Emilio Lann is a Costa Rican actor, writer, and director based in the United States. Born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, he brings a rich cultural perspective and a grounded, magnetic presence to his work. His journey as an international student in the U.S. has shaped both his artistic voice and his adaptability, allowing him to navigate diverse environments while staying deeply connected to his roots.

At his core, Emilio is an actor driven by instinct and emotional truth. He is known for his ability to embody characters with authenticity, blending strong physical expression with layered emotional depth. His experience includes performing in Shakespearean theater, where he developed a deep respect for language, rhythm, and classical storytelling. This foundation allows him to move seamlessly between classical and contemporary roles, bringing nuance and intention to each performance.

Emilio is also a writer and director, approaching storytelling as a full body and multidimensional experience. He believes that presence, movement, and energy are as powerful as dialogue, and he integrates these elements into his creative process. His work often explores themes of identity, resilience, and human connection.

Emilio is committed to building a career that bridges cultures and inspires others. With a strong work ethic and a clear artistic vision, he continues to pursue opportunities that challenge him and expand his range. Whether on stage or on camera, he aims to create performances that are truthful, compelling, and emotionally resonant.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely had its bumps. Before I even set foot in the U.S., I was attacked by a dog, and I needed plastic surgery to repair my face. Honestly at that moment, it felt like my dream of being an actor was slipping away. But once I healed, even with some faint scarring, I chose to embrace it, using that experience to further explore my characters. Then, when I applied for my student visa, it got denied at first and I nearly gave up but filled with faith I tried again, and I succeeded. Once I got here, I didn’t even have a car and was sleeping at a relative’s couch in Simi Valley. I commuted three hours each way for school until, after much effort and support, I finally got one. Each struggle taught me resilience and that’s shaped who I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
am an actor, writer, and director from Costa Rica based in the United States. I specialize in emotionally grounded performances with strong physical expression, allowing me to bring depth and authenticity to both classical and contemporary roles. I am known for my presence, adaptability, and commitment to truthful storytelling. My background in theater has shaped my respect for language and character work. I am most proud of my ability to connect with audiences and continuously grow as an artist. What sets me apart is my full body and mind approach to performance and my drive to create work that is both impactful and deeply human.

I’m a huge fan of old fashion movies and I can’t help but bring that vintage classic sensation into my work and turn it into contemporary real outcome.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
When you act on your biggest exciment, everything in the universe conspires in your favor and whatever feels like is rejection, is nothing but redirection onto a better outcome. Trust the process.
