Community Highlights: Meet Outfitted AI of Outfitted AI

Today we’d like to introduce you to Outfitted AI.

Hi Outfitted , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Outfitted started from a very real, everyday problem. I’m the co-founder of Outfitted alongside our founder and CEO, Johnathan Joseph. Johnathan is a USC graduate in entrepreneurship, and after beginning his career in corporate finance, he found himself constantly struggling with one simple thing: getting dressed every day. Despite having a closet full of clothes, deciding what to wear for work, events, or social outings felt overwhelming and time-consuming.

Around that time, we met and started talking about those pain points. As a corporate stylist, I’d seen this issue from the other side—clients with great wardrobes who still felt stuck, uninspired, or unsure how to put outfits together for their lifestyle. It became clear that the problem wasn’t a lack of clothing, but a lack of clarity and ease.

That’s where Outfitted was born. We wanted to create a smarter, more intuitive way to get dressed—one that feels personal, effortless, and actually works for real life. Johnathan built the app, and I brought my fashion expertise to help train and guide how the AI generates outfits. The result is an app that takes what’s already in your closet and turns it into styled looks based on where you’re going, what you’re doing, and how you want to feel.

Since launching, Outfitted has grown into more than just outfit generation. The app now includes resell, shopping, and virtual try-on features, creating a full ecosystem around personal style. Our goal has always been to make getting dressed easier, more sustainable, and more fun—and seeing users feel confident and excited about their closets is what’s gotten us to where we are today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most startups, the road hasn’t been completely smooth—and honestly, that’s been one of our greatest teachers. Building a tech-driven fashion platform comes with a unique set of challenges, especially when you’re merging AI, personal style, and user behavior. One of our biggest early hurdles was getting the technology to feel genuinely human. Style is personal, emotional, and nuanced, so teaching AI to understand that—while still keeping the experience intuitive—took a lot of trial, testing, and refinement.

Another challenge was building something people didn’t even realize they needed yet. We had to educate users that the solution wasn’t buying more clothes, but learning how to better use what they already own. That meant listening closely to feedback, constantly improving the product, and staying flexible as we evolved.

We also faced the typical startup growing pains—limited resources, long days, and wearing multiple hats. But having a clear division of strengths between Johnathan leading the tech and business side and me shaping the fashion and styling vision helped us push through those moments. Every challenge forced us to sharpen the product and get clearer on our mission, and those lessons are a big part of why Outfitted is where it is today.

We’ve been impressed with Outfitted AI, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Outfitted is an AI-powered styling platform designed to make getting dressed effortless, personalized, and sustainable. At its core, we help people turn their existing closets into ready-to-wear outfits based on where they’re going, their lifestyle, and their personal style. Instead of starting with shopping, we start with what you already own—because most people don’t need more clothes, they need better solutions.

What truly sets Outfitted apart is our mission of closing the loop in fashion. Many platforms focus on just one part of the process—either selling clothes or generating outfit inspiration. Outfitted does both, and everything in between. Our AI helps users style what they already have, identify gaps in their wardrobe, shop intentionally, and resell pieces they no longer wear—all within one ecosystem.

Our outfit generation is powered by both technology and real fashion expertise. The AI is guided by professional styling principles and human insight, ensuring the looks feel wearable, realistic, and aligned with everyday life—not just aspirational. Features like virtual try-on further help users make confident, informed decisions before buying or reselling.

Brand-wise, we’re most proud of creating something that feels smart, inclusive, and genuinely useful. Outfitted is designed to feel like a personal stylist in your pocket—without the pressure, judgment, or high price tag. By closing the loop, we’re helping users save time, reduce waste, and build confidence in their personal style.

What we want readers to know is that Outfitted isn’t about pushing trends or overconsumption. It’s about redefining how people interact with their closets—from styling to shopping to reselling—in a way that finally makes sense. We’re building the future of personal style, and we’re just getting started.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
We view risk as a necessary part of building something meaningful—but it’s never about being reckless. For us, risk has always been intentional and mission-driven. One of the biggest risks we took was choosing to build Outfitted as a full ecosystem rather than a single-feature app. It would have been safer to focus on just one element—outfit generation or resale—but we believed deeply in the idea of closing the loop, even though it meant more complexity, longer development timelines, and a steeper learning curve.

Another major risk was trusting our instincts over industry norms. Fashion and tech don’t always speak the same language, and blending AI with personal style came with plenty of unknowns. We took a risk betting that users would value personalization, sustainability, and smarter wardrobe usage over fast trends and impulse shopping—and that bet continues to shape everything we build.

On a personal level, stepping away from traditional, stable career paths to build something from the ground up is always a risk. There’s no blueprint, no guarantees, and a lot of learning in real time. But we approach risk as something to be managed, not feared—by testing ideas early, listening closely to users, and staying adaptable.

Our perspective is that the biggest risk isn’t trying and failing—it’s building something safe that doesn’t actually solve a real problem. As long as our decisions align with our mission and the value we want to create, risk becomes a tool for growth rather than an obstacle.
