Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Stella Pahoa.
Hi Angela Stella, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Since my early teens, I fell in love with the art of photographing the world and people around me. Having a camera in my hand at such an early age felt like being a child seeing the world through its own eyes for the first time, but making time stop just for a moment. I’ve been told often that my photographs invoke a feeling of nostalgia. I love film and warm tones. I love candid memories. I’m such a lover, I’m like ‘I love you’ SNAP a picture. After many cool opportunities photographing bands, street teams, and clothing lines I eventually took a pause from pursuing photography as a career, but after some time, I remain open to the possibility that it’s never too late to start again, and that’s where I am now. I’ve recently shot an at-home natural birth for my dear friend on 35mm film and am currently shooting live shows at my good friend’s new vintage shop called Heavy Metal Vintage. My love for my 3 wild boys and their passion for skateboarding, family, friends, power couples, nostalgia, living in the moment, and live music inspires my photographs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My biggest obstacle has been balancing motherhood and setting aside time for myself to be creative so I can truly pursue the passion I have for photography that has never left me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for candid memories. I’m proud of the way I make the people around me feel loved and seen.
