Conversations with Tyra Beavers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyra Beavers.

Hi Tyra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At the age of 17 I was in a car with my best friend, heading to her sisters house to try on her bridesmaid dress when at the crest of a hill on a highway in Nebraska a man fell asleep, crossed the center line and hit us head on. My best friend died and I was hospitalized for quite sometime, but I did survive. Being brought back to life by the Doctors, Nurses, and Physical Therapists in that small Kearney Nebraska Hospital set me on a journey to be a healer. To this day I truly believe I had to go thru this experience to make me the intuitive healer I am today. After getting my Bachelors Degree in Lincoln Nebraska I headed west to California. My aspiration was to go to Physical Therapy school in LA but I had no idea how fierce the acceptance process was. While working and getting my Physical Therapist Assistant License, I tried for 3 years to get into PT School but was unsuccessful…. so as great fate would have it I ended up getting accepted to Chiropractic School in Los Angles and I’ve never looked back!! As a Doctor of Chiropractic with a background in Physical Therapy, Massage therapy and Yoga Therapy I have to say I’m very satisfied with all the knowledge I have to give to my patients. I owned and operated a Chiropractic Wellness Center in Beverly Hills and was a provider for Chiropractic services for Cedars Sinai for over 27 years. I am now the Clinical Director of Spinatomy Spinal Decompression Center in Culver City. This amazing center was created by my Chiropractic friend and classmate Dr. Brigette Rozenberg. We are using the Acuspina Decompression system to heal patients with disc bulges, herniations, and extrusions. Saving them from the devastating effects of spinal surgery. In our clinic the Acuspina Decompression System uses a negative pressure while separating the spine in two directions, to “suck” the disc back into place. We also use highly advanced technologies like Softwave, Neuromed, Class 4 laser, Em Sculpt, Stem cells, and Peptides to enhance the healing process. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing a patient who came into the office sitting in a wheelchair, has been told they need spinal surgery and after a compilation of sessions walks in on their own!!!! At our clinic I am also a specialist in leg length difference and scoliosis. I have these conditions and in the 5 years it took me to figure out myself….I LEARNED ALOT!!!!! Many patients who come into the clinic with spinal injuries have a leg length difference which has predisposed them to this condition. 98% of the patients in my career who were diagnosed with Scoliosis had a leg length difference! So every patient that has been diagnosed with Scoliosis should be checked. There is a special Xray that I order that can tell me to the millimeter what the patients leg length difference is. Once I know, they are fitted with an orthotic insert on the short leg side and its a GAMECHANGER!! Stabilizing the patients leg length difference enhances the Spinal Decompression healing. I am now creating my own wellness product line and site so….. Stay tuned! Being a healer for many years has been the greatest joy of my life. I look forward to continuing to heal the world for many years to come!!!!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, you can tell my road was very challenging but rewarding. Having the car accident trauma, the difficulty getting into PT school, 5 years of pain while trying to figure out why my own body was torturing me. Ultimately all of this has given me extreme empathy and knowledge. It has given me the tools I need to heal others. And my passion for it all is over the top!!!!!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As I mentioned. I have studied several fields that compliment my Chiropractic skill. (And I can give a 250# guy an amazing adjustment)!! I have studied or have licenses, certificates etc in Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, Massage, and Yoga. Having all of this knowledge sets me way apart from the average Chiropractor. Specializing in leg length difference and Scoliosis also sets me apart. I cannot tell you how many patients have said to me……..”why hasn’t anybody else ever told me I have one leg shorter”!!!!!! Over the years, I have found that even as little as 3 mm can change someones life!!! So now its my mission to create my own orthotics product company !!!!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Ravenna, a small town of 1200 people in central Nebraska, I was the oldest of 5 children. I was outgoing and my parents knew at a very young age I was an athlete. I loved to run, jump, ride my bike to town. We lived on a farm outside of town. I began competing in AAU track and field at 8 years old and competed thru highschool, then in College on a track scholarship. Its hard to believe but I still have 4 track and long jump records at my high school that have never been broken. ” my kids always say, but Mom its Nebraska!!! I also played basketball and to my knowledge was the first freshman ever in my high school to start on the Varsity Volleyball team. I was a cheerleader, Homecoming Queen, loved singing in the swing choir, and particpated in volleyball, basketball, and track!! This all kept me very busy!! I wouldn’t trade where I grew up for anything!! Oh I can’t forget that My Uncle played football for the University of Nebraska so of course I am a huge Husker Fan!!! Go Big Red!!!
