Becca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Sweden and moved to the U.S. at 20, one of the main reasons why I chose California was the TV-show the OC. I’m from a cold and dark place not far from the Arctic Circle in Northern Sweden, and it was just something about that show that spoke to me.

I didn’t have a network or a clear roadmap, I was simply driven by a desire to build something meaningful and to create my own path. Early on, I spent a lot of time around independent beauty and wellness professionals. I was struck by how much creativity, care, and identity they poured into their work. They weren’t just providing services, they were artists, entrepreneurs, and storytellers in their own right.

But I also saw how invisible many of them were. Despite their talent and dedication, they often lacked the tools, visibility, and infrastructure to grow on their own terms. That realization stayed with me. Over time, it became clear that independence wasn’t just a trend, it was the future. That’s what led me to start Booka.

Booka was born from a desire to create a home for these professionals: to build a platform that honors their individuality and helps them build thriving, independent businesses while connecting them with clients who truly value their craft.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth, but I’ve come to see that as part of the journey. Building something from nothing requires patience, resilience, and a deep belief in what you’re creating, even when the outcome is uncertain. There were moments of doubt, moments where progress felt slow, or even backwards, and moments where I had to trust my instincts without external validation.

Moving to a new country and building relationships from scratch was both challenging and humbling. But each step has strengthened my conviction.

What has kept me going is the people, the professionals we work with, their stories, and the courage it takes to pursue independence. Their commitment inspires me every day.
