Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Vler.
Hi Tony, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved from Lima Peru to Los Angeles California 5 years ago (2021). It’s been an interesting journey where I’ve met so many people from all over the world. I graduated from Los Angeles College of Music in 2022, getting my Music Production and Recording Associates degree. After that, I started working as a music producer and musician. Even though, music is a difficult field where you don’t know what is going to happen, I couldn’t be more grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had in these years.
I’ve got the chance to perform at Downtown Disney and Disney California Adventure with different projects like Mari’s World and Afro-Peruvian Experience. I’ve also had the opportunity to play with Tony Succar (Grammy and Latin Grammy winner), doing a live recording session at Sirius XM with the actress and singer Isabella Merced. As a musician, I’m constantly traveling around the world performing in different cities like New York, Seattle, Chicago, Miami, Alaska, Mexico City, etc.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. Being an immigrant is always a difficult path, specially if you have to deal with Visas, paperwork or other scenarios where you don’t know what could happen to you in terms of being safe or not.
I’m always missing my hometown, my family, the food, my culture… but I always remember why I’m here and I keep going. It is also super rewarding when people see you as an inspiration just because you took the decision of move to a different country or city. However, it’s super difficult when you have to learn new language, adapt to a different culture or when something happen with your family and you can not do anything because you are not there with them,
With all that, If you know what are your dreams and the reasons why you are in a different country then you can’t give up. I’m still here making my dreams true and I think I am in a good path towards that. I’ve accomplished so many things I thought It was going to take longer time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Producer, guitarist and bass player based in Los Angeles. I consider myself a professional musician and tour musician but I also love producing other people and other artists.
I’d say my 2 type of music I’m very confortable making is RnB and Latin Music. I’ve produced songs like Make it Loud or Quien iba a saber? (Groovy songs) but I’m also making a lot of latin music.
What it sets me apart from others is my culture and where I’m coming from. As a Peruvian, I’ve learned different types of music from Peru but the one that I’ve been sharing a lot if Afro-peruvian Music.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Being perseverant and getting what I always wanted could be my best virtue and my worst fault too. Business wise it is my best virtue because I’m always perseverant and accomplishing my goals. I love that about me because I know no matter where I am, I’m always going to work hard to get what I want.
