Conversations with GLEN

Today we’d like to introduce you to GLEN.

Hi GLEN, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We started at Chick’s Sporting Goods, which had a “team room” that sold letterman jackets as well as uniforms and equipment for local youth groups and high schools. They were purchased by Dick’s Sporting Goods, who closed the department in 2015. We collaborated with their private embroidery department to continue the business on our own. My business partner was Joe Santoyo, and we ran the shop together until 2022, when Joe passed away. We brought in Ross Rodriguez in August of 2021 as San Dimas store manager, and since then we have added 11 more associates. We opened the Orange location in 2022, and have been running both locations since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was a pretty smooth tranisiton, as Joe, Ross and myself had been in the industry for over 10 years. Started off slow, but became much stronger when Ross came in. He implemented a lot of good ideas which has strengthened the business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in the ultimate experience in varsity jackets. We want the student to have the ability to get exactly what they are looking for. From custom patches to rhinstones to personal messaging, We also give the best customer service in the industry, and explain the process thouroughly. We understand this is not a small purchase, and we want the customer to be 100% satisfied. To see the reaction from the students when they see their completed jacket is priceless, and why I do this business. We stock many locat high school jackets, but the student can customize the colors any way they would like. These two things set us apart from many other jacket companies.
Our team of qualified jacket designers are our backbone. We want our employees to enjoy coming to work.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I never count on luck. Your have to be attentive to your business, as you have to do in life. Focusing on details and being attentive usually brings you more good luck that bad.
