Hi Alicia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hair has always been a part of my life and my family’s legacy. I began styling hair at just ten years old, inspired by my grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister — all talented hairstylists. I grew up watching my sister and grandmother do hair, and sometimes I would sit in the back watching my sister work on her clients while I practiced on my mannequin head, perfecting braids and styles in every way I could imagine.
By middle school, I was already spending weekends perfecting my craft through hair exchanges with friends. I became known as a kitchen stylist — doing hair for friends, family, and neighbors right from home. Over the years, I proudly became the family stylist, trusted to keep everyone looking and feeling their best. It was clear that hairstyling wasn’t just a hobby — it was my passion and purpose.
In 2016, after becoming a mother, I took some time off from going to hair school. Then in 2018, I made the decision to fully pursue my career professionally. I enrolled at Paul Mitchell at MTI College, determined to build a strong and lasting career in the beauty industry. I graduated in 2019, and soon after, welcomed my daughter in 2020 — a blessing that symbolized new beginnings and growth in both my personal and professional life.
Since then, I’ve continued to advance in my career as a licensed cosmetologist. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on projects with celebrity stylists and contribute to film productions — experiences that have strengthened my skills, creativity, and passion for the art of hair.
Today, with over five years of professional experience, I specialize in creating styles that enhance natural beauty while reflecting each client’s individuality. My journey has been guided by passion, family tradition, and the belief that every client deserves to feel confident and beautiful.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were definitely some challenges along the way, especially when I was learning new styles. I made it a point to study, watch tutorials, and practice until I perfected each look in my own unique way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a licensed hairstylist specializing in locs, wigs, extensions, and more. I’m known for slaying anything I touch and bringing each client’s vision to life. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come from where I started — the growth, the confidence, and the artistry I’ve built along the way. What sets me apart is that I never settle for being just great; I strive to be transcendent, and I live by that every day.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something most people don’t know about me is that I’m a true jack of all trades. If there’s something I don’t know how to do, I’ll find a way to figure it out. I’m unstoppable when it comes to the things I’m passionate about — giving up or saying “I can’t” just isn’t an option for me.
