Today we’d like to introduce you to Chuck Dransfield.
Hi Chuck, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Losing my job in the 2020 Pandemic lockdown proved to be a unique opportunity to dynamically reinvent my life. A renaissance of sorts where I could devote myself full time to the pursuit of.my dreams and goals that had been left on the back burner for decades. The morning after I was laid off by my employers I hit the ground running and began working on rebuilding my art portfolio and structuring a website. I started treating my art as my new full time job. My life has been an ongoing adventure ever since that has led me in exciting and completely unexpected directions. I have never been happier feeling concentrated in my authentic purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The first year of my unemployment (during the uncertain early months of the pandemic) was devoted to the goal of rebuilding a strong art portfolio and the creation of a website to promote my work. Being able to financially support myself with unemployment benefits made this possible.
I was always conscious of the gift I had been handed along with an opportunity to reboot my life..
Gratitude has always been a strong motivating force for myself. Often that would carry me through the lean and more frightening times when my financial resources were running low. I held true to my aspirations and goals with the recognition I was being guided, supported and protected.
There were would be months with no requests for commissions. Fabulous opportunities would also come forth when I least expected them.
A man saw a pencil drawn portrait of James Dean that I had posted on Facebook. He contacted me that evening and asked if I would like to create all of the artwork for a vintage building he had purchased in Dean’s hometown of Fairmount, Indiana. The structure was situated on historic East Washington Street only feet away from where Jimmy has been famously photographed walking down the sidewalk.
`The building has once been a shoe store where Jimmy had been taken as boy to purchase school shoes. The plan was to transform it into an Air B&B for the many tourists who travel from all points of the world to see James Dean’s hometown of Fairmount and to give them an authentic experience.
In addition to several canvas paintings, I created a design for a large lighted sign that is now part of the town landscape..
A woman named Mary Rapaport along with her husband Bill purchased the childhood home of Lucille Ball in Celeron, New York with the intention of lovingly restoring it from top to bottom and fill it with original furnishings. It would be open to tourists.
Mary saw the artwork I had done for Dean’s hometown and commissioned me to created oil paintings of the Ball family as they had looked in 1920 when they first moved into the house. This included a portrait of Lucille Ball when she was eight years old.
In addition to our shared love of historical accuracy, Mary and I are both impassioned Lucille Ball fans. In every possible way this was a dream job that had come into my life. A lot of love went into it.
With my work now residing in the hometown of James Dean and the actual living room of Lucy’s childhoood home, I saw that it was possible for “lightning to strike twice” and for blessings to follow and build for even more.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My first and foremost love is of old Hollywood and entertainment history. Many of my portraits are depictions of golden era stars.
While we were not successful in publishing a book due to financial and licensing issues, I once worked with writer Bart Andrews to create a complete history of I Love Lucy. It was to be a sequel to his original book on the subject.
Lucy has always inspired me since my early childhood. Literally and figuratively the most colorful person I have ever illustrated.
Whenever, I do a portrait I connect deeply with their soul. It is especially important to me to capture this aspect within their eyes. Many times I can intuitively hear spoken messages from my subjects. Sometimes I am commissioned specifically to do this service for people. It is often surprising what comes through. I am honored to serve as such a vessel.
Being more deeply immersed in my artwork has profoundly opened up my channels for receiving energy. While I had known for many years of my abilities, I often kept this side of myself deeply private.
It was my wonderful longtime friend Dr. Whimsy Anderson ND who had been persuading me for years to come forward publicly with what I do psychically. I always resisted out of fear of public scorn.
Whimsy hosts several successful livestream shows on YouTube with large audiences. In addition to being a naturopathic physician, she is also a gifted intuitive reader specializing in heart centered remote viewing.
Not only did Whimsy appoint me as her co star on two shows a week, but she has me now doing intuitive readings of my own when we are live on the air in front of thousands of viewers.
I have always been humble about what I do and was quite frightened in the beginning. It was definitely pulling me out of my comfort zones in a momentously public and bold way.
To my amazement people from all over the country began responding favorably to me and I started receiving numerous commissions for artwork as well as requests from people wanting private intuitive readings. In my wildest fathoming these were things I never dreamed of doing professionally . My life looks dramatically different from how it appeared five years ago and I love where I am right now.
What are your plans for the future?
At this time I am still adjusting to the expanding pace and flow of all of the lovely things that are coming into my life. I will continue to allow intuition and faith guide me to whatever the next stages of my life are going to be as they present themselves.
