Check Out Nancy Bland’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Bland.

Hi Nancy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After 50+ years in the travel industry arranging meetings and conventions for large groups I lost my job due to COVID.

I stayed home for two years, then decided to volunteer somewhere. I searched the internet and found that La Crescenta Woman’s Club rented their clubhouse (a 100 year old home) as a major fundraising for scholarships and other philanthropic donations.

I realized that was right up my alley and probably could be a help to the organization.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been very rewarding, especially in May when scholarships are handed out to high school students.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My ‘job’ is sales for rentals. I handle the rental from the initial contact inquiring about a rental, to two weeks prior to the rental when the Operations Team takes over. I find the position, all be it totally voluntary, very fulfilling and realize that the Woman’s Club has been able to increase their philanthropic donations because of the revenue I have been a major part of bringing in to the Club.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The key is having someone that you respect, and they believe in you.
