Exploring Life & Business with Tammy Hunter PhD, CHt of Tammy Hunter PhD, CHt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Hunter PhD, CHt.

Tammy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Tammy Hunter’s story begins in a small town outside Dallas, Texas. Behind the closed doors of her Pentecostal upbringing, she endured the kind of abuse that silences many. Her father’s anger dominated the household, while her mother—an opioid-addicted sociopath—inflicted emotional cruelty that left scars deeper than words can describe.

The cruelty wasn’t abstract. Tammy experienced poisonings, medical gaslighting, lost two beloved pets, and even her grandmother at the hands of her mother. The lesson was clear: pain was power, and love was disposable. In those early years, Tammy was groomed to attract narcissists, setting the stage for a cycle of exploitation that repeated itself throughout her adult life.

That cycle reached its most brutal point when Tammy’s mother crossed the final line—having an affair with Tammy’s husband. After her father passed away, her mother even moved him into her home.

Tammy’s last words to her dying mother were: “I love you.”
Her mother’s parting words back? “Go to hell.”

For many, that would have been the end of the story. But for Tammy, it was only the beginning.

After decades of surviving narcissistic abuse, Tammy made a decision: she would not only heal herself, she would help others break free too. She returned to school, earning a diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and later a PhD in Metaphysical Humanistic Science. Out of this came a revolutionary hypnosis method Tammy calls the “Hypnotic I,” which replaces the externalized “you” with the deeply personal “I,” giving clients back their agency in the healing process.

She didn’t stop there. Tammy opened her own practice in Los Angeles, quickly building a reputation as a nationally recognized voice in narcissistic abuse recovery. She became a sought-after public speaker, a contributing author to respected publications, and eventually, the author of a groundbreaking book on narcissistic abuse recovery. Her work has touched survivors worldwide.

Beyond therapy and writing, Tammy has also leaned into creativity as part of her healing journey. She developed 12 intuition-based tarot decks inspired by the zodiac—tools that combine intuition, psychology, and symbolism to provide guidance and support for growth.

Today, Tammy maintains a thriving practice with clients spanning across the globe. Her story is not one of victimhood but of reclamation. From a small-town childhood scarred by betrayal to a life of national recognition, she has turned her pain into power, her survival into service, and her suffering into science.

Her message is simple but profound: healing is possible, even from the darkest of beginnings.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Tammy Hunter’s journey has been one of survival, disruption, and transformation. She was introduced to dysfunction long before she understood what the word meant. Her childhood was shaped by two powerful forces: a domineering father whose anger filled the house, and a mother whose opioid addiction and sociopathic behavior poisoned everything it touched.

Generational addiction wasn’t new to her family; it was a cycle handed down. The lessons weren’t spoken in words — they were taught in betrayals, in cruelty, in an upside-down model of love. From this environment, Tammy learned not safety, but how to endure. She learned to normalize pain, to attract narcissistic personalities, and to live in a world where affection came laced with manipulation.

The toll was devastating. Tammy was the victim of incest and sexual trauma.

Refusing to inherit the curse, Tammy chose a different ending.

We’ve been impressed with Tammy Hunter PhD, CHt, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of a private practice specializing in narcissistic abuse recovery, clinical hypnotherapy, and metaphysical healing. My work is built around helping survivors reclaim their sense of self after psychological trauma — particularly from narcissistic relationships, gaslighting, and emotional manipulation.

What sets my practice apart is my approach. I developed a method called The Hypnotic I — a breakthrough in hypnosis that replaces external suggestion (“you”) with internal reclamation (“I”). It restores autonomy, rewires the subconscious, and gives survivors their voice back. I also integrate trauma-informed techniques, metaphysical science, and intuitive guidance to address healing on every level — mind, body, and spirit. My work has been featured on national reality television.

Beyond private sessions, I’m a published author, speaker, and educator. My book Narcissistic Abuse Recovery: The Laws of Healing from Narcissistic Abuse, Gaslighting, Emotional Manipulation, and Trauma has reached readers worldwide. I’ve also created 12 intuition-based tarot decks, one for each zodiac sign, designed to strengthen self-trust and intuitive awareness.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that my work has become a refuge for people who thought healing wasn’t possible. My brand stands for truth, sovereignty, and transformation. I want readers to know that healing from narcissistic trauma isn’t just about surviving — it’s about awakening your power, rewriting your identity, and mastering your own mind.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is education and empowerment — not just for others, but as a lifelong commitment to myself. I believe knowledge is the truest form of freedom. When you understand how the mind works, how conditioning takes root, and how trauma shapes identity, you reclaim control over your life.

Education saved me. It gave me language for what I had lived through and the tools to transform it. That’s why I pursued Clinical Hypnotherapy and a PhD in Metaphysical Humanistic Science — to bridge transpersonal psychology, consciousness, and personal sovereignty. My work now centers on teaching others how to access that same power within themselves.

What matters most is watching someone move from survival to self-mastery — when they stop seeking validation from the world and start trusting their own truth. That’s what my brand, my book, and my practice are built on: the belief that self-knowledge is the ultimate liberation.
