Conversations with Blue Omari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blue Omari.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started with what I had. At the time, that meant cheap paint, cereal boxes, and a deep need to express what I was feeling. Art wasn’t something I planned to pursue. It became something I needed. Over time, what began as a personal outlet turned into a way of communicating the emotions and moments I couldn’t always explain with words. I’ve continued to follow that path, trusting God with each step, showing up honestly, and creating from wherever I am.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I’m grateful for every part of it. There were times I felt lost, unsure, or like nothing was working. I’ve had to face creative blocks and the lingering fear all artists know too well. But even in those moments, something always called me back. I’ve learned that the hard seasons often carry the deepest lessons. They’ve helped me grow in faith, resilience, and clarity. I wouldn’t trade the struggles, because they’ve shaped the person I’m becoming.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a creator and a storyteller. I mostly paint with acrylic on canvas, but I’m open to any kind of creative expression that feels right in the moment. Painting has been the one I’ve returned to the most. My work is like a collection of visual timestamps. Each piece reflects what I’m feeling, learning, or working through in that season. A lot of my paintings include tears, which for me represent healing, release, and emotional freedom. I paint to come back to myself and to stay close to God. I think what makes my work different is the heart behind it. I’m not creating just to make something. I’m processing, praying, and letting the canvas hold what I can’t always say out loud. What means the most to me is when the work connects with others who feel deeply. People who are healing, growing, or just looking for something honest.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I try to stay connected to what helps me remain grounded and present. Spiritually, the Bible is my foundation. Spending time in scripture and prayer helps me stay aligned with who I am and why I create. I also return often to practices like journaling, reflection, and stillness. As for books, I’m drawn to ones that explore creativity, healing, and emotional honesty. I don’t rely too much on trends or productivity tools. What helps me most is staying close to God, making space for quiet, and listening to what my spirit needs in each season.
