Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Carlberg.
Hi Cameron , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Orange County, and went to school for business at Arizona State. I was a wrestler, so I’m really into sports. I had a lot of energy as a kid, and decided I wanted to focus that energy into productive means. So sports was the first thing, eventually that turned into business. I worked at a lot of different tech startups, just learning the ropes, cutting my teeth, figuring out what it is that I was passionate about in the business space and what my purpose was going to be.
That was about 12 years ago. A year after that, I moved to Los Angeles, and right away, started meeting people in the music industry. I found an opportunity to start raising funds for charities and for management teams using some of their extra inventory that they had for their shows for friends and family. I learned quickly that there was a huge market for access, beyond ticket access, like high-end fan engagement, meeting the artists, going backstage, seeing how sets are built, putting together backstage tours, doing private events. I realized that there was a huge market for that. I started meeting a lot of clients who were interested in connecting those dots, and that’s really what birthed immersiveX over time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think it’s been an exciting road. ‘Smooth’ isn’t what I would call it. You know, with COVID hitting, there were some big, big speed bumps and we were forced to let go of around 40 people because there was no more work, because there was no more live entertainment, and at that point in time, 99% of what we were doing was in person, so that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But we waited it out, strategized for the right time to bring back our business, and brought back most of our employees as well. Things like that can happen. The industry moves very quickly too. You have to always stay ahead of it and find out what’s going to be the next new thing people are going to be interested in. It can be a struggle, but because the work excites us, it’s what keeps us successful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re an entertainment concierge service. We provide experiences that are generally not available to the public through our direct relationships with talent management agencies, etc. We work with sports teams, theater production for movies and TV shows, and all sorts of different aspects of entertainment. We use those relationships to curate experiences based on what our specific clientele want. We’ve been working through word of mouth ever since we started, and we are very relationship-based.
So as a client, you have a one-to-one relationship with our staff, and we get to know you. We find out your likes, dislikes, your anniversaries, your travel plans, your hopes and your dreams, and then we curate experiences for you. We are always here for anything that our clients come to us with. If they decide that they want to go to the Super Bowl, or if they find a new event that popped up in their area, and they want to attend and see if there’s any special access that we can put together for them, we can absolutely do that. That’s what we’re here for. It’s a very unique service that few companies can offer. The level of service that we can provide from A to Z is unmatched. We book full trips and travel for everyone as well. We do business worldwide.
Our office is in Venice, California. We love it here. It’s bright and sunny most of the time, so it’s been an amazing place to do business. We are going to be opening offices on the East Coast within the next year, and from there, we plan to go over the pond as well.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I would say the weather and the people. It’s an amazing place to live. We’re a mile from the beach. I love to be able to start and end my day in a beautiful place. And truthfully, the people are amazing. There are so many people here. You can find whatever you’re looking for in the city—there are so many different types of people from all sorts of different backgrounds, all doing completely different things. You never know who you’re going to meet playing pool or getting coffee. It’s amazing, and I love that I have the opportunity to do that every day.
What I like least about the city? It’s so busy, which just means that from time to time, I have to make sure that I get away from my phone for a few hours, or go shut down completely—go camping and get out of the city for a little bit. Luckily, I’ve got a lot of family out in Colorado and the mountains, so that’s a really good escape for me. It’s important to reset sometimes and find quiet time for yourself to make sure that you’re always recharged and ready to take on the next challenge.
