Today we’d like to introduce you to Aniuta Aslanian.
Hi Aniuta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m an Armenian woman, born and raised in Russia. At the age of 24, I moved to the United States with my husband — just the two of us, without knowing anyone here. Starting over in a new country was incredibly challenging, but I brought with me nearly a decade of experience as a photographer in Russia and Armenia, where I had built a strong client base and honed my craft.
Coming to the U.S. meant beginning again from zero. But within just six months, I managed to make a name for myself in the photography scene in Hollywood. One incredible woman named Louiza believed in me and became not just a supporter but a true friend. Her support helped me take my first steps here.
Now, 1.5 years later, I photograph red carpets, film and TV show behind-the-scenes moments, and get invited to amazing events. Some celebrities even smile when they see me at the red carpet — and that means the world to me. I’m truly grateful to be part of this magical industry and to live this journey every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Moving to a new country with nothing — no connections, no stable income, no clear plan — was incredibly hard. There were moments of deep disappointment, unexpected betrayals, and times when I felt completely lost, not even knowing where I could go next.
But even in the darkest moments, my natural openness and ability to connect with people helped me find light. I was lucky to meet incredible souls who encouraged me, believed in me, and reminded me of my purpose. Their support gave me strength to keep going, and I learned that even the hardest paths can lead to something beautiful — if you keep walking with your heart open.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer based in Los Angeles, and I specialize in red carpet events, film and TV behind-the-scenes, and content creation for creatives and brands. But more than that — I proudly call myself “The Curly Photographer of Hollywood.” My signature curls and warm energy have become part of my identity, and many people on set or at events recognize me for both!
What sets me apart is not just the camera in my hands, but the connection I create with people. I truly care about the energy on set and do my best to make everyone feel comfortable and seen. Once, while working with the amazing Danny Trejo, he said something incredibly kind about me — words that touched me deeply and became a source of motivation during challenging times. Moments like that remind me why I do what I do.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in such a short time, starting from zero in a new country and now being invited to shoot some of the most exciting events in Hollywood. But more than anything, I’m proud to be myself — kind, passionate, and full of curls!
